Getting the killer convicted and put in prison

In 2000 Albert Lima was shot in the head in Honduras and never saw the USA again. His son Paul has spent the last decade trying to find a way to get his dad's killer to take the rap. He has made some progress in a variety of ways. But no one has yet been able to catch the murderer.

Getting the killer convicted and put in prison is no easy feat. The Limas have been plagued by misplaced government documents, a lack of communication between the U.S. and Central America, and a host of other nihilistic obstacles. And that is where the aforementioned eponyms come in.

Although the lime green golf cart that Lima spotted in the desert may be a long time coming, he has found some glimmer of hope thanks to the efforts of an unsung hero named Omar. As a bounty hunter, Omar is known to be the best shotgun hound in Central America and has some of the best tasers on the planet. Having spotted a worthy adversary, Omar enlists the help of the man most worthy to bring him to justice. With their assistance, the Limas have a better chance of seeing their father's killer serve his time.

It's not hard to see why a man dedicated to catching the criminals responsible for his father's death is so determined to make things right. But chasing a murderer is no picnic and Omar and his team aren't the only ones in this position. A benefactor named Alonzo has been known to throw his weight around as well.

Review

After the Murder of Albert Lima is a documentary about Paul Lima's quest to find and punish the man who killed his father. This true-crime story is also a personal journey.

Albert Lima was an American lawyer and businessman who was found dead in Honduras in 2000. A court ruled he had been murdered by a member of the Honduran cartel. His son, Paul Lima, has been seeking justice for more than a decade.

Although Lima's quest to find the person responsible for his father's death is successful, it's not without complications. The murderer of his father was able to get out of prison after bribing a judge to get him released.

Fortunately, Paul Lima has hired two bounty hunters to assist him. Despite the danger of working in such a dangerous environment, the two bounty hunters take on the challenge.

After the Murder of Albert Lima, which is directed by Aengus James, is a well-crafted documentary that tells a compelling story. However, the film suffers from a largely predictable plot and lack of tension.

It's a little hard to feel emotionally attached to the characters. For example, Martin Coleman's family had owned a small bakery on Roatan. When the bakery hit hard times, they were threatened by his family if they didn't come up with $84,000 to pay off the debt. In addition, Albert Lima had loaned money to Coleman.

While Martin was not involved in the killing, he did try to track down his murderer, Oral. But Oral was unable to be tracked down and eventually was convicted of his father's murder. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Ultimately, After the Murder of Albert Lima is an interesting film, but it's a bit too serious for its own good. If a slight change of perspective had been made, the movie would have become a moralizing treatise.
