Read on to find out how you can watch land of the lost!

How to Watch

The best way to watch Land of the Lost is on your streaming device of choice. If you haven’t had a chance to check this 2009 sci-fi adventure out for yourself, you can do so right now on Netflix. And you should, because it’s a fun time. If you’re a fan of Will Ferrell or Danny McBride, this is a movie to put on your watch list. There’s a reason why the film has been called the big daddy of all space-time vortexes, and it may just be that it has the most laughs. There’s a good reason this homage to the late Leonard Nimoy is one of the most viewed films of all time on the streaming service, and you should give it a go.

Streaming Options

Despite its rotten Rotten Tomatoes score, Land of the Lost is actually an enjoyable trip back to Saturday mornings and junky sci-fi adventures. It’s a solid comedy that features genuine thrills, some genuinely gross-out moments and plenty of Will Ferrell in top form.

A rafting expedition takes a wrong turn and Rick Marshall finds himself in a hilarious alternate universe filled with dinosaurs, chimpanzee-like cavemen called Pakuni, and aggressive, humanoid creatures called Sleestak. With his research assistant and his redneck survivalist friend Chaka, Rick embarks on a dangerous mission to save the day in this zany sci-fi adventure.

If you want to watch land of the lost online, you can do so through the many streaming services that are available. These include Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and others. The best of these services offer an enormous selection of movies and TV shows, ranging from old favorites to recent hits.

There are also several free streaming options, including Crackle, Hoopla, and the Roku Channel. They offer ad-supported streaming and allow you to stream on multiple devices at the same time. They also have apps that let you pause, rewind, and replay your favorite movies on the go.

If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, Plex offers a $5-a-month upgrade that lets you watch live local channels and record your favorite shows to watch later. It also offers thousands of movies and TV shows, including music documentaries, Bollywood musicals, and extreme sports films. There’s also a feature called GroupWatch that allows you to host virtual movie nights with up to six friends.

DVD Release

Whether you have already watched the film or are a newcomer to it, the DVD release of Land of the Lost has everything you need for a great viewing experience. It features a strong 1080p/AVC-encoded transfer, a diverse audio track, and a host of bonus features that should appeal to most fans of the movie.

In the movie, a scientist named Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell) takes a wrong turn into a strange world with his crack-smart research assistant Holly and a redneck survivalist named Will (Danny McBride). The three adventurers find themselves in a hybrid dimension, surrounded by dinosaurs and killer reptiles called Sleestaks. They must rely on their only ally, a primate named Chaka, to get out of the hybrid world and back home.

While the movie is a bit silly, there are some very funny moments that make it a very entertaining watch. The set design is amazing, and the actors have a lot of fun with it. The desert scenes are especially spectacular, with hotels buried in the sand and medieval catapults.

The cast has all the right acting chops to keep things fun, and the special effects are excellent. It's not the best film, but it's a good laugh, and there are some very memorable moments in the movie that will remain with you long after you leave the theater.

There are several deleted scenes included on the DVD, and they are all worth watching. Some of them are very funny, and McBride's character is very witty in them.

In addition to these deleted scenes, there are several other special features on the DVD. Bradley, Sid and Marty: A Conversation with the Kroffts is a great feature, and it's interesting to hear the original creators of the Land of the Lost TV show discuss the film.

The DVD includes a number of different subtitle options, as well. There are English captions for the deaf and hard of hearing, and French and Spanish subtitles. The audio is in Dolby Digital 5.1, and it's quite impressive. Despite a few minor snags, the audio is a top-notch presentation that will make you want to turn up the volume.

Trailer

A space-time vortex sucks scientist Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell), his assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a survivalist Will (Danny McBride) into an alternate universe populated by dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world – a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost. With only their lone ally, the primate Chaka (Jorma Taccone), to help them navigate out of this hybrid dimension, they’re determined to find a way home.

A forest ranger and his two children, played by Will Ferrell and Anna Friel, accidentally tumble down a waterfall into the Land of the Lost, a land teeming with dinosaurs, the deadly Sleestak and a host of other weird-yet-endearing species. With no way back, Rick, Holly and Will are forced to rely on their wits as well as each other to survive against the odds.

As they travel through time, the three characters are joined by a group of other people who landed in the Land of the Lost from other eras. During their travels, they encounter a UFO, Big Ben, a Titanic and many other famous landmarks.

The trailer for land of the lost is a hoot and even if you don’t recognize a lot of the references, it still looks fun. It is a very off-kilter film, and not at all what you might expect from a Ferrell vehicle, but it is definitely hysterical in some scenes.

This is a Will Ferrell comedy, but the acting is a bit rough and the humor is quite crude. There are about 20 to 30 bad words, including the phrase “Matt Lauer can suck it!”

Also, there is a bit of sexual content. There are scenes when Will Ferrell grabs Holly’s boobs and when he is talking to the kids in the Land of the Lost they start asking him questions about his sexual life. There is also a firework called the Mexican Vasectomy.

The movie is based on the Sid and Marty Krofft TV series that aired in the 1970s, but it has been altered quite significantly by director Brad Silberling and screenwriters Chris Henchy and Dennis McNicholas. It’s a pastiche, and one that fans of the original television series might not like, but it’s an ode to the spirit of the show and a chance for Will Ferrell and Danny McBride to show off their comedic chops in a low-budget science fiction adventure.
