While most federal courts have been hesitant to embrace live-streaming, a growing group of state courthouses around the country are taking advantage of new technology to provide real-time video of their oral arguments. Among the latest to do so are the California Supreme Court, which has started live-streaming its oral arguments as of May.
Other states also have their own live-streaming initiatives underway: Michigan, South Carolina and Delaware have all begun broadcasting court proceedings, while Alaska's High Court has begun streaming some oral arguments. The 9th Circuit, meanwhile, remains the only federal appellate court that regularly posts live or archived video of its arguments.
In addition, many state intermediate appellate courts have also recently began streaming their proceedings, including one of New York's four appellate divisions. As more and more courts embrace this important technology, public access to judicial proceedings could become even easier for the average citizen.
To watch the California Supreme Court’s live-streamed arguments, you can use your computer or smartphone to open the Supreme Court's YouTube page. The videos will be available for viewing until they are removed by the court.
As a bonus, the California Supreme Court has just started a new feature that allows viewers to listen to its arguments in real-time. This is a fantastic way to keep track of what the court is saying and hear the voices of the judges themselves, which is something that many people do not have the chance to do when they are in court.

The title of the show is a portmanteau word that combines the name of the state of California with the word “fornication”. The song is a parody of the Hollywood lifestyle and the hyper focus on sex.
It was released in 1999 by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and has been played on almost every setlist since its release. It was the fourth single from their comeback album, and it reached number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as being a hit in the UK. The song was also covered by many other bands, including the Beach Boys.
