Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni - How to Watch Higurashi When They Cry Season 5 Online

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is one of the most unique anime franchises out there. It features multiple arcs across its 6 seasons.

For many fans, the arc switches can be confusing and even jarring. That's why we're here to help you watch the series the right way! With our watch order and guide, you'll be able to jump into this amazing anime series in no time.

The first season

Higurashi is a series that blends lighthearted elements with some truly intense and disturbing scenes. It’s a haunting tale that explores the inexplicable human errors that can lead to tragedy.

The first season of the anime is based on the visual novel by Higuchi Maeda, and was released in 2006. It’s an intense, psychological horror story that will leave you wondering what exactly is going on.

Keiichi Maebara moves to a small rural village named Hinamizawa in June 1983 with the intention of finding a new school and making friends. He soon befriends his classmates Rena Ryugu, Mion Sonozaki, Rika Furude and Satoko Houjou.

As the plot develops, Keiichi begins to notice strange things happening around him. He learns that the people he knows are not what they seem, and a local deity known as Oyashiro supposedly “curses” the village.

In the end, this leads to a series of mysterious events that will change the course of Keiichi’s life forever. In the process, he uncovers a dark secret that will resurface throughout the rest of the series.

While the series has a very complex structure, it doesn’t take long to become accustomed to the various arcs. If you’re looking to understand all of the mystery and find out how all the pieces fit together, it’s definitely worth taking your time to watch it.

The second season

In this season of Higurashi When They Cry, the club members continue to live in Hinamizawa while battling the curse of Oyashiro. Despite their seemingly peaceful lives, things aren't as they seem in this mountain village and plenty of the town's residents have dark secrets to hide.

The first episode introduces us to Keiichi, who is living in Hinamizawa with his parents. He meets Rena, Mion, Rika, and Satoko and spends time with them. He also accompanies Rena to the dam construction site to retrieve a mascot statue from there.

While he's there, he meets Jiro Tomitake, a wildlife photographer, who tells him about a brutal murder and dismemberment of a family. He also explains about the annual festival and how people have started to protest the dam's construction project.

Meanwhile, Rika, Mion, and Rena worry about Satoko and tell their teacher about her plight. They call Child Welfare Services but are unable to make a police announcement because of a lack of proof.

Later, Keiichi finds out that Teppei abused Satoko in the past and is now visiting her family's residence to abuse her. After his wife died a year ago, Teppei returned to the village. He forces Satoko to perform menial tasks for him.

During this arc, the members of the games club begin to grow apart as they move on from each other and try to find ways to get back together. This can be a fun sequence as you get to see their friendships develop and grow. However, it's best not to watch this arc if you're new to the series as it can be difficult to keep track of all the different arcs and answers.

The third season

Higurashi is a horror series that blends lighthearted elements with intense and terrifying scenes. It is one of the most successful visual novels of all time, and it’s worth watching if you enjoy murder mysteries that keep you on edge until the end.

When Keiichi Maebara moves to the sleepy village of Hinamizawa, he becomes friends with Rena Ryuuguu, Mion Sonozaki, and Satoko Houjou. They share a pleasant life, but their peaceful abode hides a dark secret. For the past four years, during the Cotton Drifting festival, someone has been murdered and people go missing without a trace.

Throughout the series, Keiichi’s friends discover the truth behind Hinamizawa, and it’s a mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat. As each character deals with their underlying issues, we learn more about what’s really going on in the village.

While Studio Deen’s adaptation of the Higurashi When They Cry franchise may not be as perfect as fans had hoped, it still leaves a lasting impression. Among other differences, fans were surprised to see a different version of Hanyu Furude, a godly spirit that followed Rika around for her entire childhood.

The original Higurashi When They Cry anime was filled with mysteries, including Rika’s time-looping powers and Takano’s villain status. But despite the answers they received, fans were left wondering why each character had such a hard time dealing with their situations.

The fourth season

Higurashi is a series that explores horror, mystery, and supernatural intrigue. It features a variety of characters and stories, each with its own unique characteristics.

The show revolves around a small village called Hinamizawa, which has been plagued by mysterious deaths over the course of four years. The murders are linked to a curse placed on the town by its patron deity, Oyashiro-sama.

While the show may seem like a normal coming of age story with a lot of humor, it is a dark story that focuses on the way a group of friends is affected by their surroundings. The paranoia and madness of each character can be very scary to watch, as can their obsession with the mysteries of Hinamizawa.

If you want to start watching the series, the first season is a great place to begin. It has 26 episodes that introduce the main cast and help you get familiar with the world of Hinamizawa.

Afterwards, you can add on the two OVAs and three specials to see more of the cast. You don’t need to watch them all, but they can make a nice addition to your collection if you have the time.

If you want to take your experience of the series to the next level, consider reading a few of the novels in the franchise. These are a great way to understand more of the plot and find out more about the characters you’ve grown to love.

The fifth season

The fifth season of higurashi continues the story of Keiichi, Takano and their friends as they try to find a way to escape Hinamizawa. The series is a bit different from the previous seasons in that it has a more complex plot, which makes it even more interesting to watch.

The main plot of the season revolves around the town's festival, which is a celebration that is meant to bring peace and harmony. As the festival approaches, however, Rika begins to feel increasingly depressed.

In her search for answers, Rika enlists the help of her friends, who also happen to be writers. They discuss the possibility of a secret society competing for power. They even decide to write a manga about the festival.

As the story progresses, Rika learns that the clinic where she and her friends attend the festival is actually a secret research facility for a biological weapon. She also discovers that the Yamainu are a security force that works to keep such a facility hidden from the public.

Despite her fears, Rika decides to go ahead with the festival. She enlists the help of her friends and Irie, but the event is not as smooth as she had expected.

Meanwhile, Satoko tries to escape her abusive uncle Teppei, but is attacked and injected with H-173. She later tells Keiichi about the abuse and his nightmare in which he murders Teppei.

The sixth season

Higurashi is a series that has a lot to offer, and it's easy to get caught up. If you're looking for a good way to watch the series, however, you might want to make sure that you're watching it in its proper order.

In the sixth season, Rika, Keiichi and their friends attend a festival to help relive the past. While there, they meet Tomitake and Takano, who explain the dark history of the village and its ritual storehouse, which was once a torture chamber used to remove innards from people as sacrifice offerings to Oyashiro.

After the festival, Keiichi and Shion sneak off to the storehouse with Takano. While there, they discover that the storehouse was a place where people were tortured and killed, and they learn from Takano that the villagers were sacrificing their loved ones to Oyashiro in order to protect them.

While in the storehouse, Mion also comes out of hiding. She explains that she saw Rika talking to some men in construction uniforms, and she believes that she was the one who was responsible for the curse of Oyashiro.

She then tries to kill Keiichi, but is tasered by Rena. Keiichi is then taken to the torture chamber by Mion, where she explains that she was possessed by Oyashiro and was trying to kill him for her.

Luckily, the two friends find a way to send Rika back in time and return her to the present. This helps to ease her fears about the future and makes her realize that she should stay in the village.
