Despite the heavy themes, there’s plenty to love about the show, from the barroom atmosphere to the great performances by Louis C.K.’s cast, as well as Alan Alda as the racist, abusive uncle Pete and Edie Falco as Sylvia, the bar’s sister who wants to sell it for a profit.

Episodes 1 through 6 are available for streaming on Hulu. However, the episodes are only available in the US for now and are not currently available on Netflix or Stan.

In Episode 6, Horace returns to the bar after visiting Tricia, who has been hospitalized after being beaten by Pete. He finds out that she and Pete were in a relationship, but things went wrong when they stopped taking their medication and that he’s now in a psychotic state.

The whole episode is a classic for many reasons, but the most notable is that it showcases how the characters’ relationships with each other are constantly under threat. When Pete goes missing, he and Horace are devastated. They even have a fight at the bar, which is a perfect setup for a very dramatic scene between the two of them and Sylvia, who has just been informed that she’s going to have to sue the family bar for her share of the inheritance.

As Horace and Pete’s legacy starts to crumble, Sylvia tries to get him to let the bar go for money. It turns out that her own family was pretty much scum, so Horace should think about starting fresh.

Then, Horace's ex-wife Sarah (Laurie Metcalf) comes to visit the bar, and she tells him that she's had an affair with her husband's 84-year-old father. She's hoping that by telling him her story, he'll be able to understand why she did it.

While it may be tempting to watch Horace and Pete as a standalone show, you should know that the entire show is available to watch on its creator's website for $31 (and you can download each episode for $5). This price tag doesn't even include the cost of streaming the episodes, which means that you can watch them as much as you want without having to worry about running out of cash. If you're a fan of Louis CK's work, then you'll love this new show.

In January, Louis C.K. pulled a Beyonce, releasing an entirely new television show online, Horace and Pete, that he created, wrote and directed.
