How to Watch Altitude Sports on AT&T TV

AT&T TV

If you are a Colorado Avalanche or Denver Nuggets fan, you can now watch your favorite sports teams on AT&T TV. The deal, which was announced in October, means Altitude Sports will be available to 10 states in the Rocky Mountain region, including Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Idaho, New Mexico, and Nevada.

Altitude Sports is a regional sports network that focuses on the NBA Denver Nuggets and NHL Colorado Avalanche. It also airs men's and women's soccer, men's and women's volleyball, as well as college football games from the University of Denver. In addition, it carries local college and high school football games.

Altitude Sports has been around for more than a decade and was originally broadcast on the Comcast network. However, it was dropped from Comcast and Dish Network in 2019. Since then, it has found new homes on DIRECTV and Evoca. But, as the pay TV ecosystem dwindles, tech giants are posing a huge competitive threat to regional sports networks.

While the Nuggets are still on the hunt for a playoff run, the Avalanche are currently defending Stanley Cup champions. They are scheduled to play 13 nationally-televised games in 2021-22. That should provide a lot of entertainment for Avalanche fans.

The National Lacrosse League (NLL) Colorado Mammoth also receives a good deal of coverage. In fact, Altitude shows 16 of the 18 regular-season matches that the team plays each season. Unfortunately, the Mammoth's rest of the season was cancelled.

In the meantime, Altitude Sports provides extensive coverage of the Denver Pioneers. This NCAA Division I university participates in the Summit League in most sports.

Altitude Sports also airs Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids. In addition, it carries selected Southland Conference football games. As a result, it has a disproportionately large presence in the Rocky Mountain area.

Meanwhile, Altitude has also gained distribution on the IP-delivered DirecTV Stream. Although this isn't quite as extensive as its linear satellite service, it's certainly a step in the right direction.

In addition to its distribution on DIRECTV and Stream, Altitude has also signed a deal with virtual pay TV service FuboTV. These two deals are meant to help it become a more prominent fixture in the local sports landscape.

Altitude is the first regional sports network to get an official deal with Apple. Its contract with the sports app company gives it access to its programming library, which includes a wide variety of programs. And, as the sports channel adds more regional sports franchises to its roster, the number of opportunities it has to earn revenue increases.

As the pay TV ecosystem continues to shrink, it's no wonder that tech giants such as Google and Amazon are taking over more and more of the TV market. One of the reasons for this is because their streaming services are much more affordable than those offered by traditional pay TV providers. Similarly, they have access to content that traditional providers aren't able to afford.

While the Altitude Sports & Entertainment Carriage Agreement marks the end of a longstanding carriage dispute with AT&T, it's possible that the impasse may extend to the upcoming NBA and NHL seasons. However, it looks like both sides have worked out a compromise, and it should make the Rocky Mountain area a little more fun to watch.

DirecTV

If you want to watch sports in the Denver area, it's important to know which cable providers offer the Altitude Sports network. Unfortunately, the network's programming has been unavailable on most cable subscription services in the area since late August. This is due to a dispute between the cable provider and the network's owners. Thankfully, DirecTV has stepped in and will be relaunching the network this month.

The network's coverage includes Denver's NBA and NHL teams, including the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche. It also covers the college football team, the Denver Pioneers (NCAA). Other sports include men's and women's soccer, men's hockey, volleyball and skiing. The channel also airs high school and minor league sports.

Altitude Sports Network launched in 2004. Stan Kroenke, a longtime sports executive, founded the company and acquired the rights to the Colorado Avalanche. In the years that followed, the Avalanche were crowned Stanley Cup champions, and Altitude Sports has provided extensive coverage of their games. They have also aired college football and Major League Lacrosse matches.

But the network's business hasn't been without its share of hiccups. After the company's contract with Comcast expired, they were blocked from accessing the cable service. The network filed a federal lawsuit to reclaim the contract, but the court ruled against them. Now, Altitude is suing Comcast, claiming the company is trying to put the network out of business. Several state representatives are concerned about the situation. And a bill has been introduced that would force any cable service to go through mediation before a deal can be reached.

Comcast is the most dominant cable service in the Denver area. However, despite its market power, the company is not interested in negotiating with Altitude. Instead, it only wants to provide the best terms to its customers. This is a dangerous model for the regional sports networks. There is a potential for even more problems in the future.

In the meantime, Altitude is looking to new distributors. Earlier this year, the network announced a deal with virtual pay TV service fuboTV. As part of the agreement, Altitude will be available on FuboTV in ten states in the Rocky Mountain region.

However, there are still no deals with other major television distributors. Nevertheless, DIRECTV is offering Altitude Sports through its CHOICE package. That package includes a range of local and national channels, including ABC, NBC, FS1, TLC, ESPNU, History Channel and more. DIRECTV Stream is also available on Amazon Fire TV and Roku. Subscribers can easily switch to the Stream on any of these devices, and cancel their subscription anytime.

Besides the Altitude Sports, DIRECTV offers the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Rapids and the Colorado Mammoth. All three teams are owned by Stan Kroenke. The Colorado Mammoth, a National Lacrosse League (NLL) team, has also received a significant amount of coverage from Altitude.

Altitude's main focus is on the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche. But it also carries other teams, such as the Denver Outlaws and the Colorado Rapids.
