Barbie is a renowned fashion doll that was first introduced in 1959. Her popularity grew and eventually led to a media franchise that included many computer-animated films.
Several of these Barbie films are available to watch on Netflix. But, how do you find them? Well, there are a few ways to go about it.
Barbie makes her musical debut in this animated adaptation of Mark Twain's classic tale. It follows two girls who look almost identical, but could not be more different in background.
In an unnamed kingdom, a blonde princess and a brunette pauper are born at the same time. Their parents, the king and queen, love them equally.
But they are in need of the pauper's income to support their bankrupt kingdom. Despite their differences, they are determined to find a way out.
When a scheming royal advisor, Preminger, kidnaps Anneliese, Erika is called upon to help foil his evil plan. But can she assume her Princess' identity to save her? And when a handsome king falls in love with her and mistakenly believes she is the Princess, can they thwart him before he has a chance to hurt the real Princess?
In this made-for-video Barbie movie, a young girl receives a wooden Nutcracker from her aunt. When her brother Tommy accidentally breaks it, Clara fixes it and sleeps with it in her parlor.
At midnight, a portal to Parthenia opens up, and the Nutcracker comes to life, fighting an army of mice led by an evil Mouse King. Clara aids the Nutcracker, but she gets shrunk by the Mouse King's magic scepter.
Clara and the Nutcracker set off on a quest to find the Sugar Plum Princess, who can break the Mouse King's spell. With messages of kindness and persistence, the story may stir an appreciation for ballet in the next generation.
The eighth entry in the Barbie series sees the iconic toy doll take on a starring role in a high-school musical. Starring Helen Mirren, it also includes a slew of other big names.
The trailer opens with a nod to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, as young girls play with baby dolls in prehistoric landscapes. It then introduces Robbie, who looks larger than life in the outfit worn by the first Mattel doll that came out in 1959.
This film is about a girl who faces numerous challenges in her journey to becoming a successful fashion designer. She must also battle her crush on Ken while juggling her friendships with both Raquelle and Todd at the same time.

Socioeconomic Class Critique: In this movie, Mattel made a big effort to shift the definition of princess to being a strong, powerful woman. This is a huge shift from the original definition of "princess" and one that is still relevant in modern society.
Erika is a good example of this because she's not stupid, even when she fools people by pretending to be Anneliese (who she looks like, though she doesn't have a royal birthmark). She also manages to escape from a dungeon while wearing a wig!
If you're a fan of the iconic doll, you'll likely be excited to learn that Mattel has been creating 41 computer-animated movies featuring Barbie. Some of the stories are based on classic fairy tales, while others are more original narratives, ranging from high school classrooms to present-day New York City.
