How to Watch Defenders in Order

The first series to kick off a new era of stores in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Daredevil season 1 introduced audiences to Matt Murdock and his supporting characters Karen Page, Foggy Nelson, Ben Ulrich, and the villains of Hell's Kitchen, including the rise of Wilson Fisk as the Kingpin.

After their initial success, Daredevil and Jessica Jones were joined by Luke Cage and Iron Fist to form The Defenders, the team of superheroes who work together in an interconnected storyline on Netflix.

While it's tempting to jump straight into the series and rewatch them one by one, it's vital to watch in chronological order to make sense of the characters and plot points.

The series begins with Matt Murdock, who is blinded as a child but gains powers and becomes a vigilante to fight injustice. As the season progresses, he starts to see people for who they are, rather than who they think they are.

As well as this, he begins to work with a new friend in Frank Castle, who has become a hero celebrity of the city. He also meets a woman named Rachel who has been in deep trouble.

He starts to see her as a potential partner, but her past comes to haunt her. She is eventually forced to kill her mother, which sets up a rift between them that will continue into the next season.

Despite this, Jessica Jones is still an excellent show and Krysten Ritter continues to deliver as her lead character. She is backed by an impressive cast, with Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker and Eka Darville as her neighbour Malcolm Ducass.

While the second season doesn't live up to the first, it's still a worthy rewatch for fans. It's the penultimate season of The Defenders Saga and features a lot of action.

It also introduces the titular character's adoptive sister Trish, who will play an important role in her story.

As well as the main storyline, the series explores the psyche of the protagonists. This helps to create a more mature Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The first season of the neo-noir detective drama wowed critics and audiences alike, with its depiction of trauma and sexual assault. It was a very different approach to what was being offered in other MCU movies at the time, and it showed the series's more mature side.

Luke Cage

Luke Cage (Mike Colter) was a former police officer who underwent an experiment that granted him invulnerability. He tries to keep his new status low and lives a normal life in Harlem, but things don’t go as planned.

In season 2, Luke Cage’s life gets a little more complicated as he faces off against crime boss Coppermouth, beautifully portrayed by Mahershala Ali in the MCU. When the former nemesis from the first series appears, Cage must use his invulnerability to fight back and try to bring the crime lord down.

While the show isn’t as good as Daredevil or Jessica Jones, it is still a good addition to Marvel’s Netflix series. It’s more relatable to the real world and deals with issues like crime lords, political corruption, and power struggles rather than ancient ninja powers or psychotic super-villains.

The series is a bit slow-paced and doesn’t have the same punch as Daredevil or Jessica Jones, but it is worth watching for fans of the Marvel comics. Mike Colter does a great job as Cage, and Ali is terrific as Coppermouth.

Another great thing about this series is the music, which sounds incredibly authentic and makes it feel as if you’re actually in Harlem. Plus, it’s a fun storyline that focuses on the lives of ordinary people as well as super-powered heroes.

During the first season, Cage fights for the rights of the people of Harlem while also putting his own family through hardships. He tries to maintain a low profile, but when the threat of his arch enemy Coppermouth (Mahershala Ali) is on the horizon, he must make a bold move to save his life and the lives of his loved ones.

In season 2 of the Marvel-Netflix series, Luke Cage is forced out of retirement and must find a way to deal with his newfound fame as a superhero in Harlem. He uses his invulnerability to take on crime lord Coppermouth and rid the streets of Harlem of the criminal influence that has taken over.

In the final season of The Defenders, Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage team up to fight the Hand and stop them from threatening the world. This is one of the most enjoyable crossovers in the Marvel Netflix universe.

Iron Fist

The Defenders - Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist -- all aired over four years but are now available to watch on Disney+. Although they were released sporadically, each season is linked with the next and you should watch them in order if you want to follow the storyline of the series and its characters.

The first season of the show was a bit hit-and-miss, but it did earn much higher praise in its second outing. But despite that, some fans have said the series isn't up to scratch in comparison to its comics counterpart.
