A few good performances and a compelling atmosphere make for a worthwhile watch. And I would suggest it to fans of The Wire, as the film's supporting cast features two alums.

As far as Rami Malek is concerned, his performance isn't up to par. He's not convincing as a young hotshot detective until the final half-hour.

But if you're looking for a good, neo-noir thriller, you might want to check it out.

The Little Things is a workable plot and solid performances. With a few clunkers, the film is nonetheless worth a watch.

For instance, there are no obvious motivations for the main character's crimes. Instead, it's more interested in showing us the inner lives of its characters. Even though the story has no definitive proof linking Sparma to the murders, there is enough in the film to believe that he is the guy.

Among the other things that Jared Leto and the Little Things are able to do, however, is a cat and mouse game between him and a group of detectives. His performance is what saves the movie from disaster. If you're not a fan of the genre, then this film is worth checking out for its intriguing performances.
