After Eternal Summer, Haruka and Rin had finally reconciled and they were determined to compete against each other again. Along with Makoto, Nagisa, and Rei, they have been preparing for their upcoming tournaments so that they can win together.

However, things change when Sousuke Yamazaki, Rin's childhood friend, transfers into his school and reminisces about their days swimming together. Now, they've both grown up and have a chance to rekindle their friendship by swimming together once more, but Sousuke has a serious shoulder injury that's preventing him from achieving the level of performance he wants.

Despite this, Rin is determined to overcome his injuries and reach his goal. But what he doesn't realize is that Sousuke seems to be struggling with his own issues.

In this film, we get a lot more backstory about the two main characters. As a result, we're much more invested in their stories than we were in the anime. For instance, we got a better understanding of how Rin's father died and what it means to him. It was really touching and heartwarming to watch. You should definitely watch this film if you haven't seen it already!

In the final season, Miho becomes the faculty advisor of the Iwatobi Swim Club. Her teaching job allows her to become a close friend of the club's members and supports them as they pursue their goals.
