How to Watch Halston on Netflix

One of the latest tititular dramas to land on Netflix is Halston, a five-episode limited series based on the life of fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick. The show follows him from his hat-filled meteoric rise to fame when Jackie Kennedy wore one of his designs at her inauguration in 1961.

Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor is known for a career spanning three decades that includes roles in Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge and a role as a Jedi Knight in the Star Wars saga. He's also a risk taker and loves to push himself and take on new challenges.

In Ryan Murphy's latest project, McGregor plays the iconic fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick in Halston - a five-part miniseries about his life. He's up for an Emmy for his performance in the series, which begins streaming May 14 on Netflix.

Costume designer Jeriana San Juan told Insider that she worked closely with McGregor to ensure everything on screen felt as genuine as possible, including a number of sewing lessons for the actor before shooting started. It's a testament to both of them that they were able to achieve a level of expertise with their craft that helped to elevate the show above other biopics about fashion.

The show focuses on the rise and fall of Halston, but there’s much more to it than just fashion. It’s also a coming of age story, focusing on a young designer who’s just as prone to excess partying and booze as he is to launching a successful business.

Halston is the latest period drama to hit Netflix, and it looks to be a strong contender for Emmys in its technical categories. It also has the benefit of airing recently, keeping it fresh in viewers’ minds.

Krysta Rodriguez

As a veteran audiobook narrator, Pittu has a voice that sounds like it may remind you of Rod Serling’s famous narrating style. He has also been a finalist in the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts Theater Talent Search. He has appeared in several television series, including Men in Black and King Kong.

Sullivan Jones

Sullivan Jones is best known for his roles in Hulu's The Looming Tower and Wu-Tang: An American Saga, but the San Francisco-born actor also has stage credits. He studied theater at Brown University and the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, according to IMDB.

But his empire of luxury, sex and status comes at a cost. It's a price that eventually becomes his undoing.

What's more, he's a dangerous genius, whose excessive drug use and promiscuous behavior are a constant source of drama. His chain smoking and frequent swearing are just as much a part of the character as his design aesthetic, which is drapey and overly romantic.

The show's glamor-soaked style and eye-popping visuals are fine, but it lacks the substance to make a lasting impression. While Halston's story is worth following for its scope, it doesn't go deep or provide a satisfying conclusion.

The series is based on Steven Gaines’ biography Simply Halston, and although it isn’t as detailed as other shows like Feud or Hollywood, it still gets the job done. Featuring Ewan McGregor and Liza Minnelli, it’s the latest addition to Netflix’s growing library of dramas.
