How to Watch La Piscine Online

Jacques Deray’s 1969 psychological thriller La Piscine may be an outlier in his catalog. But it’s still a film that should be considered as a serious cinematic work.

In the French Riviera, a holidaying writer (Alain Delon) and his girlfriend Marianne (Romy Schneider) find themselves entangled in a tense relationship. Things get even more complicated when her ex-lover and his daughter arrive.

1. Watch the Trailer

A paragon of modernist cool, La piscine ain't your ordinary swim up bar. Its stars, Romy Schneider and Alain Delon are arguably the best looking in the business. But it's the opulent latticed swimming pool that gets the nod for the most eye candy. A baffling number of sexes converge on this French Riviera abode for a sultry summer vacay that lasts longer than a sex night at the local casino. A snazzy set of poolside assistants do their job in style. The best part is they don't get their knicks in the process. The perks include a swanky bar, state of the art poolside showers and a well-appointed gym if you can call it exercise.

2. Watch the Movie

La piscine is a 1969 movie starring Alain Delon and Romy Schneider. The film was directed by Jacques Deray and is set in summertime on the Cote d’Azur. The movie centers around two people, Jean-Paul (Delon) and Marianne (Schneider), who are vacationing in a friend’s mansion in Saint-Tropez.

The film is a melodrama that revolves around sexual jealousy and possessiveness. It is a classic that has been rereleased many times over. The movie is well-known for its gorgeous photography and beautiful actors.

However, the movie has a very languid pace and can be a bit slow to follow. The plot is not particularly interesting and the characters are a little unreal. This is because the movie is a foreign film.

What makes the movie so popular is that it features Alain Delon and Romy Schneider who are known as a couple in real life. They had been married but separated in 1963 and remained friends after the breakup.

The film also has a lot of great looking clothes, high-design furniture and a Michel Legrand score. The movie also has some really good acting from Delon and Schneider who have great chemistry together. The movie also has some nice camera work and good editing. The movie is a classic and can be seen on Netflix and other streaming sites. It has been rereleased many times over and is a great watch.

3. Watch the English Version

A paragon of 1960s modernist cool, Jacques Deray's seductive drama La Piscine casts Alain Delon and Romy Schneider as lovers who vacation in a villa on the Cote d'Azur. They are reunited with Marianne's former lover, Harry (Maurice Ronet), and his teenage daughter Penelope (Jane Birkin) who arrive to spend the summer with them.

The tensions between Jean-Paul and Marianne reappear as Marianne's ex-lover becomes closer to her and her relationship with Penelope intensifies. The underlying psychological tensions churn deep to reveal sinister undercurrents.

Despite the film's languid pace and lack of a strong plot, the chemistry between Alain Delon and Romy Schneider is what saves it from being simply an exercise in eye candy. Rather, the star power and their mutual understanding of one another translates onscreen into responsiveness, gestural ease, and an authentic emotional expression that the stolid direction of Jacques Deray and the laughably bland, insubstantial dialogue can't dispel.

I've seen this movie many times and it never fails to be enjoyable, especially when watching it with a group of friends or family. It has a sexy vibe, great photography, and amazing acting that will take you back to a time when people really did have more fun in the sun than they do today.

If you want to watch this film in English, it can be found on HBO MAX or the Criterion Channel. You can also stream it on Netflix. The English version was made at the same time as the French version and all the actors were filmed speaking in English for the international release of this film.

This 114 minute version was edited slightly differently than the French version. It was also a bit longer and features some scenes that aren't in the French version.

La Piscine was a big deal when it came out in 1969 and is still viewed as an important classic by many movie lovers. Nevertheless, it can be a challenge to watch because of its stolid pace and the inability to make sense of some of the obtuse ideas that are presented. It's also a bit long for a movie that runs at about two hours, but the style is timeless and the performances by Alain Delon and Romy Schneider are unforgettable.

4. Watch the French Version

If you are looking for a Jacques Deray film that you can watch in its original language, this is a great choice. This French film, starring Alain Delon, Romy Schneider, and Maurice Ronet was directed by Jacques Deray and was released in 1969 to great acclaim.

The film was also a great way for Romy to break out of the sexy Habsburg hokum of her Sissi movies, which she had been making for several years at this point. In the movie, she plays Marianne, a woman in love with a man named Jean-Paul (Delon) who is holidaying in a villa with his friends.

La piscine is a classic of the thriller genre and it is often misattributed to this genre but in reality, it is a psychological drama that deals with dark morality and the issue of sex and death. It is a very well written film that is very enjoyable and the actors who star in it are amazing.

It was released on 31 January 1969 and it was the fourth most watched film in France at that time. During that time, there was a lot of street battles and radical student protest. This is one of those films that could be seen as a reaction to the events of that time and I would recommend it if you are looking for a good French film with some great acting by Alain Delon, Romy Schneider, Jane Birkin, and Maurice Ronet.

The movie has been restored and is now available on Blu-ray for those that are interested in watching the movie for the first time. Criterion's release on Blu-ray looks terrific and has excellent sound as well. The movie has some nice detail and very realistic contrast. The sound has also been improved and the movie doesn't have a lot of edge-enhancement and macroblocking which is very problematic on most DVDs.

The film is a very well-made thriller and it is worth seeing if you are interested in watching a French movie with some of the best acting of Alain Delon and Romy Schneider. I haven't seen this movie in a long time but it is on my list of movies to watch again.
