If you're a fan of classic westerns, then you'll love watching Old Henry on Netflix. It's an excellent film that features some of the best actors in the genre, including Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou) and Scott Haze.

The story revolves around a widowed farmer and his teenage son who live in Oklahoma territory in 1906. The pair warily take in a mysterious, injured man with a satchel of cash. When a posse of men comes to collect the money, they must decide who to trust. As they defend their homestead, the farmer reveals a talent for gun-slinging that surprises everyone calling his true identity into question.

While the movie is not rated, there is some violence, including a gunshot injuring a character, characters being shot and killed, and other scenes of intense violence. There is also sporadic language, including the use of "f--k," "s--t," "son of a bitch," and more.

It's a classic Western, but director Potsy Ponciroli takes it up a notch with an interesting plot and solid performances from the cast. Especially, Tim Blake Nelson gives a great performance as the mild-mannered farmer who must protect his teenage son from outlaws.

When an injured man named Curry is brought to the farm, he asks Henry to help him keep a gang of outlaws from stealing the money he managed to smuggle away. He says that he is the sole survivor of a posse that came after him and that the gang wants his money back.

Later, three men wearing sheriff's badges come to the farm. They claim to be lawmen who are looking for Curry and arouse Henry's suspicions.

Before they arrive, Curry tries to convince Henry to surrender, but he refuses. Instead, he tries to teach his son, Wyatt (Gavin Lewis), how to shoot a gun.

After they get back to the house, Wyatt catches him secretly taking Curry's gun to practice. The next morning, Ketchum arrives with his gang and tries to convince Henry to surrender.

Despite his attempts to persuade him, Henry refuses and kills Ketchum. He then shoots a number of gang members, and he and Wyatt manage to escape. Before he dies, Henry tells Wyatt that the world is changing and he has no place in it anymore.

Originally released in 1987, Old Henry is a classic comedy film that has stood the test of time. It was directed by John Hughes and starred Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. It’s a lighthearted movie that’s also a great example of how films can deal with serious issues without being overly tense.

In this film, a widowed farmer (Tim Blake Nelson) and his teenage son Wyatt take in a mysterious injured man with a satchel of money. After he reveals an unexpected talent for gunslinging, questions about who he really is lead to a tense standoff with a group of men led by a lawman, Sam Ketchum.

As Henry and his family try to make sense of this mystery, Ketchum arrives on their farm and claims that Curry is a real outlaw who has come to steal the cash. The two men begin a fierce struggle, with Henry defending his home and revealing an unusual level of knowledge about people in their neighborhood.

At first, it appears as though the conflict is going to be short-lived, but it soon takes a turn for the worse. As a result, the two men are forced to flee. Fortunately, they meet up again later and get to know one another better.

They soon realize that their lives have been turned upside down, and that they may not be the only ones suffering. When an outlaw, Duggan, sneaks under the house and tries to shoot them from below, Henry uses his shotgun to blast him out of the way.

After he recovers, he returns to the farm with his son and explains that he had to hide from the posse because he was afraid that they would find out he was a lawman. He also reveals that he and his family have been living on their land for years, even though they’re not from Oklahoma territory.

Once he explains this, Ketchum’s men arrive on their farm and claim that Curry is the real outlaw who has come to steal the money. They try to intimidate Henry, but he refuses to give up. As they leave, he spots a brand on Curry’s arm that marks criminals.

A widowed homesteader and his headstrong son warily take in a mysterious, injured man with a satchel of cash. When a posse of men claiming to be the law comes for the money, they must decide who to trust and defend their farm from a siege.

In the midst of this chaos, Henry (Tim Blake Nelson) discovers that the mysterious stranger, Curry (Scott Haze), is in fact an outlaw. Despite a coat of battle scars and a tattoo that identifies him as a lawman, he's not what he appears to be.

This leads to a series of tense moments in which the audience is forced to make judgments about who's on the side of good and who's on the side of evil. It's a style of storytelling that seems dated at first, but writer/director Potsy Ponciroli gives it a fresh twist with his story of one man's quest to hide his true identity from those around him.

When he finds out that Curry is a fugitive, Henry attempts to protect him from violence, but it isn't long before his hesitancy is tested by a rogue sheriff named Sam Ketchum (Stephen Dorff). When the Sheriff and his posse attack his farm to arrest Curry, Henry takes up his gun and goes on a killing spree with a fierce and bloody finale.

The Blu-ray release of Old Henry includes a 2.66:1 1080p transfer that looks and sounds great. The image is crisp, with a strong sense of detail and a solid color palette that reflects the simple production design and costuming.

In terms of performance, Tim Blake Nelson delivers a superb performance that feels like the culmination of his career as an actor. He's not conventionally handsome -- and he's clearly scruffy -- but he holds the camera with a character actor's craft and a movie star's artistry.

There's a lot of violence in this western, but it is never at the expense of tension. In addition to a number of tense moments, there are plenty of thrills and chills.

In the end, it's a film that should appeal to anyone who enjoys a good, old-fashioned western. The cast and crew have worked hard to present the film in a way that is authentic and respectful to its legacy.

If you have a bit of time to spare and are looking for some classic Western action then Old Henry is the film for you. Directed by Potsy Ponciroli and produced by Hideout Pictures, the film follows the fortunes of a widowed farmer and his teenage son living on a lonely homestead somewhere in Oklahoma Territory around 1906.

The family live a fairly simple life, working hard to earn enough money to get food for their pigs and tending the land. Henry's son Wyatt (Gavin Lewis, In Searching, Maximum Ride) is rebellious and doesn't always like the way his father treats him. But he tries to see beyond the hardships and help out on occasions, and they share a few moments of levity as well.

However, when a wounded man is brought to them by a posse of men claiming to be the law, it's clear there's something suspicious going on. The wounded man, whose name is Curry (Scott Haze, Only The Brave, What Josiah Saw), claims that he's a lawman who was pursued by Sam Ketchum and his men and that the two have a satchel of cash in his possession.

As it turns out, Curry is the former sheriff of Woods County, Oklahoma, and he and his deputies had been robbed by Ketchum's men before they managed to escape and ended up near Henry's farm. When he learned of their true identities, he tried to kill them but was shot down instead.

This is a great little Western, one that taps into the malevolence of secrets and yearning for security in a surprisingly honest manner. It's one of the better Westerns to have been made in the last century, and while it doesn't necessarily add much new to the genre, it's still a good watch for anyone with a few minutes to spare and a hankering for some gunslinging action.

A classic western, written and directed by Potsy Ponciroli, it stars Tim Blake Nelson and Scott Haze as Henry and Curry, with Gavin Lewis and Trace Adkins also in the cast. The film's a muddy, grimy and at times gruesome spectacle, but it's worth seeing if you're in the mood for some gunslinging, violence and bloodshed.
