How to Watch School of Rock With Your Kids

School of Rock is a feel-good comedy with Jack Black that has everything a kid could want. It’s a great movie to watch with your family, especially if you have kids who like music.

In the film, Dewey Finn gets fired from his band and is offered a job as a substitute teacher at a private school. He decides to teach his class how to play rock music.

The Story

In the world of music fandom, there are the casual admirers who call it “rock,” and the amped-up, wild-eyed fanatics who prefer to be known as “RAWK.” Jack Black stars in Richard Linklater’s charmingly exuberant School of Rock as Dewey Finn, a maniacal musician who is driven by a desire to control everything he touches. He drives a smoke-spewing van plastered with Godsmack and Led Zeppelin stickers, talks incessantly about his abundant artistic gifts, and indulges in orgiastic guitar solos during every live performance.

When he is laid off from his band, Dewey is forced to seek a new job. Fortunately, he is hired as a substitute teacher at an uptight private school where he notices the children are talented in music. When he learns that they are also good enough to win a Battle of the Bands competition, he decides to turn their music class into a band.

The project takes over normal lessons and helps the students overcome their insecurities as well as realize that rock can give them a sense of purpose. As they prepare to play in the Battle of the Bands, Dewey encourages them to use their talents as a way to stand up for themselves, even when it means bending the rules.

As he teaches the kids about the history of rock, how to play their instruments, and the evils of “The Man,” he becomes their mentor. He helps them form a band with members Zack Mooneyham as lead guitarist, Freddy Jones on drums, cello player Katie as bass, pianist Lawrence as keyboards, and himself as vocalist and guitar.

When they go to the Battle of the Bands, they are initially rejected. But when Hathaway (Joan Cusack) comes up with a plan to deceive the organizers, they are accepted.

In fact, they end up winning the Battle of the Bands competition! The audience chants for them and even demands an encore. This leads to an emotional end to the film, which features some biting humor and drug references.

As a result, the film is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for some rude humor and drug references. It is a great movie for kids to watch, and parents can enjoy it too.

The Cast

The cast of school of rock is made up of a group of young actors that are all making their first major acting roles. All of them were chosen by director Richard Linklater based on their musical abilities and their talent as actors.

Dewey Finn (Jack Black) is a struggling singer who decides to go undercover as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school in order to earn some money to pay his rent. When he discovers that his students all have excellent musical abilities, he forms a band and enters them into the Battle of the Bands competition for a cash prize.

While he may not have the most convincing acting skills, Jack Black does an amazing job as the main character Dewey Finn. He's a real rocker in real life, and his love for music really makes his character Dewey come to life.

Another actor in the film that was a star is Joan Cusack, who plays Rosalie Mullins, the principal at Horace Green. Cusack had previously worked with Black in the movie High Fidelity, and they both had previous roles in television series like Saturday Night Live.

Miranda Cosgrove, who played Summer Hathaway, was just 10 years old at the time she was cast in school of rock. She had previously appeared in several TV shows, including the show Blue's Clues, but this was her first big movie role.

She has since starred in several other films, as well as in TV shows such as 'N Sync and Destiny's Child. She has also started a solo career in music, which she is currently working on.

The kids in school of rock all had great singing voices and their performances were believable enough to make you believe that they are real musicians. They are a great team and it makes the whole movie very enjoyable to watch.

This movie is a great feel-good comedy, and it's really fun for kids of any age to see. It's also very well-made, so I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The cast of school of rock includes a number of talented and very funny kids. This is one of those movies where you are watching the kids grow from being very nervous and shy to becoming full-fledged rockers. It's a very entertaining movie for children of all ages to watch and it has a good message that can teach kids to be more confident.

The Music

School of rock is a 2003 musical comedy film that stars Jack Black as Dewey Finn, an out-of-work guitarist who pretends to be a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school and uses his knowledge of rock music to inspire his students to form a band. It's a funny film that will have you singing along with the songs.

The soundtrack to school of rock includes a variety of classic rock hits. One of the best songs on the soundtrack is "You're in the Band" by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which was originally composed for the movie. It's a fun song to sing with the whole band, and it has become a hit on many radio stations around the world.

Other songs in the movie include "Touch Me" by The Doors, and "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. They're all catchy tunes that will have you humming them to yourself when watching the movie.

Another great song in the movie is "Memory" by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which is a ballad that has become an anthem for rock fans. It's a song that will make you want to get up and dance, and it's perfect for the movie.

In addition to the rock songs, the movie also features a number of musical numbers that are performed by the students in the show. Some of them are quite good, while others are forgettable.

Zack (Songwriter) and Lawrence (Keyboardist) are two of the students that Dewey encourages to join the band. They are both talented and unconfident, but they eventually decide that they are cool enough to be part of the band.

They each have their own styles of playing music, and they both believe that they can be a great rock star. They each have their own nicknames and positions in the band.

Shonelle and Marcy (Backup Vocals) are quiet girls who tend to blend into the background. They have the voices of angels, and they're also incredibly talented dancers. They have the same musical talents as Alicia and Marta, but they're quieter than their film counterparts.

The Rating

Based on the hit movie of the same name, school of rock follows the adventures of Dewey Finn (Jack Black), a would-be rocker who fakes his way into a substitute teaching job at a prestigious prep school by impersonating a long-term teacher. He introduces his new students to rock & roll and, when the class gets together to form a band, they enter a Battle of the Bands competition.

Jack Black is in his element playing the slovenly guitarist-turned-teacher. He's a member of the cult act Tenacious D, and the impish schmoozing is right up his alley. And, in addition to singing and playing his own guitar, Black also plays a mean saxophone and a piano. He carries the show with an anarchic flourish, making this a performance you'll remember for a long time to come.

But the real heart of the film is the young cast, all of them utterly believable, as they sing and dance and play musical instruments like prodigies, giving the movie a genuine sense of joy. They're the stars of this fun, energetic Broadway musical that, even though it strays from the original story by Richard Linklater, carries all of the same ear-pumping jolts of adrenaline and sugar to inspire the most helicoptered of tots.

The music is a throwback to the classic 70s rock era. Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater have crafted a plethora of tunes, none of which are very original and all of which, in my opinion, fall short of the original's standards. It's an unsurprising pastiche of contemporary Top 40 pop-rock, and the songs themselves are not much better than a tinny soundtrack to a junior high dance party.

And that's a shame, because this movie does have some great things to say about kids pursuing their dreams, but it also mocks traditional authority figures and teaches children to lie, all of which are not messages children should be exposed to. The whole theme of impersonating others, lying to their parents and using their classmates as a means to achieve their own goals is dangerous and can lead to negative consequences.
