How to Watch Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron This Weekend

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is a Disney animated Western series that features a mustang stallion named Spirit who was raised in the wild. He becomes a leader of his herd, until he gets captured by the U.S. Cavalry and sold for military use.

When he's finally freed by a Native American man, Spirit shows him a kinder side of humanity. He's also able to regain his trust with the Cimarron horses again.

Story

If you're a fan of Spirit, then it's time to get excited because there's a new movie in the franchise coming out this weekend. It's a little bit different than the previous entries in the series, but it still has all the charm and adventure that the original films did.

It tells the story of a headstrong girl who moves to a small Western town and forms a friendship with a wild horse. When that relationship gets threatened by a wrangler, Lucky and her friends must work together to save the horse and his herd before it's too late.

Spirit Untamed is the latest entry in a long-running franchise from DreamWorks Animation. It follows the adventures of a Kiger Mustang stallion named Spirit, who grows up to become the leader of a Cimarron herd in the wild West.

The film stars Isabela Merced as the titular character, a spunky girl who befriends Spirit while living in a small town. The pair bond over their shared love of horses and compete in a variety of activities.

But when the US Cavalry tries to tame Spirit using a method that doesn't work, it fails and he escapes with the help of a young Lakota brave named Little Creek. The two of them set off on a journey back to their Native American village.

In the end, they discover that their friendship is stronger than they could have imagined.

The original Spirit movie, which launched the franchise, was released in 2002 and is now available on Netflix. It also spawned a TV series and a spin-off movie.

There's no word on when you'll be able to watch Spirit Untamed online but it may come soon. In January 2017, DreamWorks and Cinemark Entertainment struck a deal that allows any movie that opens domestically to $50 million or more to be on Premium VOD as soon as 31 days after its theatrical release.

It may be on Netflix but the streaming service doesn't tend to carry a lot of titles from studios like DreamWorks and Focus Features. You'll probably need to sign up for an account, which starts at $9.99.

Characters

The first movie in the series follows the story of Spirit, an untamed mustang who has a passion for adventure and freedom. After stumbling into an army camp, he’s captured by the cavalry and made a prisoner of war. It’s up to Spirit’s Lakota Native American friend, Little Creek (Daniel Studi), to help him escape.

A comic aside that veers straight out of a John Ford western is when a burly blacksmith attempts to shoe and brand the horse. Rather than succumb to his will, Spirit rebuffs the attempt with his usual wry attitude.

As the film progresses, a martinet cavalry colonel tries to weaken Spirit and force him to be tamed. As a way to punish him, the colonel has Spirit tied to a post for three days without food or water and also holds another prisoner, Lakota Indian Little Creek (Daniel Studi).

Eventually, when the Colonel threatens to shoot Spirit, Little Creek helps him escape with a knife. As they make their way out of the fort, the two wild spirits form an unlikely friendship and begin to accept life as Indians.

In the meantime, a railroad project is threatening to tear up the Lakota people’s homeland, and Spirit is forced to work on a steam locomotive. As the locomotive is moved along the tracks, he frees other horses from their chains and saves many lives.

One of the main things that makes Spirit Untamed stand out from its TV counterpart is the improved animation quality. The character designs are more realistic and the characters look more like animals than they did in the original.

Aside from the remastered animation, the other main difference between the first and second movies is that this time the characters are girls instead of boys. I was worried that my animal-loving son would not enjoy the movie due to the fact that he has a vocal aversion to "princesses" but he loved it and was very happy with it.

The movie has some fantastic moments, especially the opening scene where the bald eagle is following the horse. It's an impressive feat of animation and it shows off the talent of the animators at DreamWorks. The movie also has a great score and some fantastic music.

Theme

The animated film SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON tells the tale of a wild mustang stallion who can’t be tamed. He grows up in a paradise of mountains and plains with plenty to eat and drink, but when he investigates a campsite, he’s captured by cavalry soldiers and a brutal commander who tries to break him. Despite being starved and forced to perform menial tasks, Spirit refuses to submit and escapes with an Indian boy named Little Creek and his pretty palomino horse, Rain.

The film is visually impressive, with some nice images of horses galloping through endless stretches of grass, mountains and rivers. However, the story is a bit slow, with very little narration from Matt Damon.

For the most part, the movie focuses on a single protagonist, Spirit, who is a wild mustang with big dreams. He is driven to achieve his goals – to get home to his family and be tamed by a white man.

The most memorable moment of the film is when Spirit finally gets tamed. This is not only the most exciting moment, but also the most heartwarming. In the end, Spirit proves that he is a true hero and that a stallion can be tamed with a little love and patience. The film does a good job of depicting how important these values are to Native Americans.

Soundtrack

The Spirit franchise is a beloved series of films from DreamWorks Animation. It started with the 2002 Oscar-nominated film Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron and continued with a Netflix series, Pony Tales, and a spin-off called Riding Academy.

Now, the new movie Spirit Untamed is galloping onto screens. It’s the latest film in the franchise and tells the story of a young girl named Lucky Prescott (Isabela Merced) who moves to a small town and bonds with a wild horse. When a wrangler plots to capture her horse, Lucky and her friends work together to rescue her horse and his herd from the wrangler.

In the new movie, Beyonce curates the soundtrack, which features global artists. She says the music was created to reflect the film’s storytelling and allows listeners to imagine their own imagery while listening to a new contemporary interpretation.

The soundtrack is comprised of 10 full songs, trailer tracks, scores and credits used in the movie. Find out more about the songs, who sings them, and stream all of them below.

This is the official soundtrack album for the 2021 DreamWorks animated film Spirit Untamed, based on the TV series Spirit Riding Free. The album was composed by Amie Doherty and released on 4 June 2021.

It features a variety of genres and includes a mix of solo songs and collaborations. The soundtrack is available to buy on iTunes, Amazon and other digital music services.

Spirit Untamed is currently showing in theaters and will be available on VOD soon. It’s a sequel to the original film Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron, which hit theaters in 2002 and stars Matt Damon.

Earlier this year, Universal and Cinemark Entertainment signed a deal that gives movies up to $50 million domestically the ability to move to Premium VOD as quickly as 31 days after their theatrical release. That means you can watch Spirit Untamed on demand right away, as long as you’re subscribed to a VOD service like Amazon Prime Video or Google Play.
