How to Watch Under Wraps 1997 on Netflix

Often considered the first official Disney Channel Original Movie, under wraps 1997 is a wacky comedy-adventure about three pre-teens who accidentally set free a mummy and must see him safely back into his sarcophagus by Halloween.

The opening scene, shot like an authentic horror movie, is bold and scary. But it also sets up the characters well.

How to Watch

When three preteens accidentally awaken an ancient Egyptian mummy, they must team up to get him back in his sarcophagus before Halloween. If they don’t, he will become dust and lose his only chance to be reunited with his long-lost love.

While this 1997 Disney Channel Original Movie is a bit scary, it’s mostly a fun and silly romp that parents can watch with their children. The film’s bold opening scene, which includes a monster smashing through a window, grabbing a parent, and holding their head to a flailing blade, will be scary for younger kids, but the mummy, Harold, isn’t as dangerous as it seems.

This movie is rated G, and has a run time of 1 hour 31 minutes. It received a user score of 55 out of 100 on the TMDb site, which is a good rating for a family-friendly movie that isn’t too overly scary for younger audiences.

The three young actors who play Marshall, Amy, and Gilbert have a great rapport together. They’re also well-suited for their roles, with Adam Wylie having a long list of child acting credits prior to the film including Picket Fences and Clara Bryant appearing in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Wylie, now 38, is a busy actor, working steadily in TV and movies since Under Wraps. He’s most recently starred in Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates.

Bryant, now 37, made up another third of the best friends trio and is a lawyer by trade. She’s also been a popular TV actress, appearing in Veronica Mars and a 2021 episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

Fagerbakke, 65, played Mr. Kubat, a bad guy who wants to sell the mummy. He has many years of experience in character work and is well-known for his voice-over roles on SpongeBob SquarePants and Coach.

As the bad guy, he has a lot of depth to him, so his role isn’t that easy to take lightly. He also looks quite silly in his outfit, running around with the children, so if your kids are sensitive to this kind of thing, they might not like Under Wraps.

Watch Online

The 1997 Disney Channel original Under Wraps is a fun and spooky Halloween movie. It follows three young friends who happen to accidentally wake up a 4,000-year-old mummy and affectionately name him Harold. They must band together to escape a group of criminals who want to sell the mummy to the highest bidder. They must also return the mummy to his tomb before midnight on Halloween or else he'll turn into dust.

The film has a lot going for it, but it's not without its drawbacks. For starters, it's a bit too long for my taste and the plot gets a little stale. Plus, there's a lot of talking and singing that goes on.

However, the film is still worth watching. It's one of the few Disney Channel Original movies that I've never seen in person, so I'm eager to see it again.

For the most part, Under Wraps is a silly little romp that's more about laughs and slapstick than scares. It's also a good family movie that will entertain kids and adults alike.

For the best experience, I recommend signing up for a service that includes the Disney Channel like FuboTV or DirecTV Stream. Both of these services offer a free trial and come with live TV. You can watch Under Wraps and other shows via the app or online through their website.

Watch on Netflix

You've probably heard about the Under Wraps film, and you might even be wondering if it is available on Netflix. Well, yes, it is, and you can watch it on your favorite streaming service anytime you want.

The movie is based on an old Halloween fright fest that's been around for a long time, and it's a great one to watch with your kids during the holidays. But there are some things you should know before you go out and watch it.

For starters, Under Wraps is a Disney Channel original movie that was released in 1997. It's a fun romp that's filled with silly scenes and characters, but it also opens with an intense and scary scene. The opening scene is shot like an authentic horror movie, with a monster smashing through a window, grabbing a man's head and holding it to a spinning knife in a garbage disposal unit. It's a bit scary, but you quickly learn that the mummy isn't actually bad at all.

There's a lot to love about Under Wraps, and it's easy to see why this film holds up so well 25 years later. The original's relatable kid leads, a fantastic Halloween atmosphere, and a sense of humor are all key to its success.

But while the original was successful for these reasons, it did have some issues. For starters, it was the first of Disney Channel's original movies to be filmed in 3D, which meant that the characters were actually looking back at you when they were talking or acting.

And that's a big problem for young kids. They don't always have the maturity to fully appreciate these special effects, so they can end up feeling really frightened.

In this version, the cast includes Mario Yedidia (Marshall), Adam Wylie (Gilbert), and Clara Bryant (Amy). The story follows three friends who accidentally awaken a mummy and have to bring him back to his resting place before midnight on Halloween.

The main problem with the film is that it isn't as scary as it could be, but it is a good one to watch on Halloween or for other spooky occasions. The movie also features a few funny moments, and it has a lot of spooky scenery. However, it isn't as fun or engaging as other Disney Channel originals that have come out recently.
