X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 (1999)
Wolverine is one of the most famous and well-known members of the X-Men team. He has appeared in several animated series and numerous video games, as well as a handful of live-action movies. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2013)
Wolverine's time travel to 1973 becomes a key element of the film, allowing us to witness Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen) and the rest of the X-Men's battle against Sentinels in an apocalyptic future. A powerful force that caused an event in 1973 has unleashed a deadly army of robotic mutant hunters called Sentinels, which kill any mutant they can see and anyone who tries to help them.
In the movie's most ominous scene, we witness a massive Sentinel attack on New York City that erupts into an unstoppable wave of destruction. It's a perfect way to set the stage for the film's central conflict.
This story has a lot going on, and director Bryan Singer takes the time to give each character some screen time, and plenty of interesting story arcs. While it doesn't stray far from the formula that's been used to great effect in previous X-Men films, it does have enough twists and turns to keep things exciting without being overbearing or overwhelming.
The cast of characters, from the older versions of X-Men to young ones like Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender), are all very well written. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen as older Professor X and Magneto are both perfect, and Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde is just brilliant.
The movie also introduces some new faces, from Evan Peters' teen mutant Quicksilver to Halle Berry as Storm. While all of these characters aren't as fleshed out or likable as their predecessors, they add something to the proceedings, and don't overwhelm the other characters in the movie.
X-Men: Apocalypse (2018)
The end of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past left audiences with the impression that Apocalypse, a powerful mutant from ancient Egypt, would soon be reawakened in the present day. Now, a new team of X-Men is tasked with stopping this mighty villain and saving the world from total destruction.
But despite a lot of fun action and some cool easter eggs, X-Men: Apocalypse suffers from one major flaw - it's a generic story with a ludicrous villain. That's not to say that this X-Men movie is bad - it just doesn't have the soul to stand out in the current superhero genre.
Nevertheless, it is still an enjoyable watch and, for fans of the X-Men franchise, it will be worth checking out. It may not have the epic scope of X-Men: Days of Future past, but it's still a good time at the movies.
There's also a lot of good character moments, and the action sequences are some of the best we've seen in the series. There are even some clever heists and more than a few heart-pounding fight scenes to go along with them.

Apocalypse's power is so overwhelming that he is able to build a massive pyramid and recruit a team of four horsemen.
