How to Watch Yu-Gi-Oh in Order

As with any long-running anime, there are a lot of different opinions online on the correct order to watch Yu-Gi-Oh in.

But with a little knowledge and some guidance, you can make the process easy for yourself. Here are some tips for how to watch the series in chronological order, from the original to the recent spin-offs.

Duel Monsters

Yu-Gi-Oh is one of the most popular card games of all time, and the anime series based on it has become a worldwide phenomenon. It takes place in a world of rivalries between friends and foes, ancient mythology, alter egos, and monsters, and has an intense story that you'll be addicted to after just a few episodes.

The series follows the life of Yugi Mutou, a young man with the goal of becoming the best duelist in his city's Duel Academy. As he strives to achieve his dream, he obtains the power of pendulum summons and is immediately captured by dark forces who want him dead.

However, Yugi's friends come to his aid and help him win back his star chips from the powerful rivals who carry the Millennium items, six ancient artifacts that are counterparts to the Millennium Puzzle. When Yugi is forced to defend the Puzzle from his enemies, he discovers that his rivals are stealing his souls in order to claim the Puzzle for themselves.

Yugi and his friends soon find themselves in an even more dangerous situation when a mystical organization named Doma attempts to seal the souls of Yugi's fellow duelists and monsters in a bid to revive a mythological monster that led to the destruction of Atlantis 10,000 years ago. In this climactic event, Yugi and his friends are forced to work together in order to save their fellow duelists and monsters.

As Yugi's battle against Kaiba continues, he is tempted to release a Crush Card virus that would make every monster in his deck with over 1500 Attack points unplayable. When Yugi refuses to do so, Kaiba tricks him into it.

Once Yugi's deck is destroyed, he loses half of his star chips and becomes depressed. This causes him to turn to his friend Tea for help, who is able to win a duel against Mai with her extra star chips and convinces Yugi to give her his own.

The gang then goes on a mission to the island of Maximillion Pegasus to stop Pegasus from using his Millennium Eye to seal Yugi's soul away. But Pegasus' plan backfires, and Yugi manages to free his rival from the grip of his amnesiac spirit.

After Yugi wins the Duel, Panik, another rival duelist with a large amount of star chips, challenges him to a Duel. Despite his lack of experience, Yugi wins the duel and wins back Mai's star chips by attacking with her Swords of Revealing Light card.

When Yugi wins the next duel against Rex, he uses his Time Wizard to counter Rex's powerful Red-Eyes Black Dragon. This helps him to win the tournament and earn his star chips.

Yugi's quest to become the best duelist in the world continues as he and his friends battle a variety of opponents and creatures in their attempts to reach the top of the Duel Masters game. Along the way, Yugi learns of the evil force known as Atem, who is trying to claim the Millennium Puzzle for himself and use its powers to take over the world.
