Legendary - The Queer Breakout Hit of 2020

The first original show to be launched on streaming service HBO Max is Legendary, a competition which takes viewers into the fierce world of ballroom culture and voguing. With a line-up of judges including Law Roach, Jameela Jamil, Leiomy Maldonado and Megan Thee Stallion, Legendary looks set to be the queer breakout hit of 2020!

Streaming

The first original series to air on HBO Max is bombastic reality show Legendary, which is all about the underground ballroom scene. Featuring eight legit voguing houses, this series is set to be one of the queer breakout hits of 2020.

The reality competition series follows a group of ballroom divas who battle on vogue teams called "houses" and attempt to win a cash prize in ballsy fashion and dance challenges to achieve legendary status. Hosted by MC Dashaun Wesley, Legendary features a stellar lineup of celebrity judges Law Roach, Jameela Jamil, Leiomy Maldonado and Megan Thee Stallion alongside DJ MikeQ.

During each episode, viewers follow a different house in a dance competition that includes voguing, twirling and duck-walking. Throughout the show, viewers also get to meet the inspiring performers and learn more about the backstories of each house.

As for the judges, they'll have a new rule this season that allows them to wave their "gag flag" when they don't want a house eliminated from the show. This will allow them to keep dancing, even if they receive low scores during an elimination round.

Unfortunately, it appears as though Legendary has been axed by HBO Max after three seasons. The news comes just one day after Variety reported the cancellation of FBoy Island, another fan-favorite unscripted project on the streaming service. The move seems to be a result of cost-cutting measures that have been implemented by the streamer's parent company, Warner Bros.

Watching

A new era in streaming television has arrived, and among the first original shows to hit the HBO Max app is bombastic ballroom competition show Legendary. If you haven’t seen it, it’s the kind of show that makes you want to vogu, twirl, and duck-walk your way through a dance floor filled with legit voguing Houses (and their fans) in search of the grand prize: $100,000.

In case you’re wondering how to watch Legendary online and stream the new show from anywhere in the world, we have some tips and tricks. The show airs on HBO Max from Wednesday, May 27 and new episodes will drop every week thereafter.

The following is an edited version of our previous article, How to Watch Legendary on HBO Max & Stream the New Show.

The best way to watch Legendary online is to sign up for a free account at. The perks of this service include unlimited HD video streaming, free unlimited movies and TV series, and access to the latest and greatest HBO content.

The company has also made it easier than ever to watch a wide variety of HBO titles on mobile devices, including a number of popular sports shows like NBA on NBC and MLB on Fox.

Episodes

One of the first originals to hit HBO Max, Legendary is a competition based show that takes the underground ballroom scene and spins it out into the ether. It stars eight legit voguing houses in a competition to win the largest ballroom prize of all time. A top notch crew of judges including Law Roach, Jameela Jamil, Leiomy Maldonado and Megan Thee Stallion make the show a must see for any aficionado in the know. The show is a blast to watch and here's how you can get in on the action at home or on the go.

The best place to start is with the official Legendary app, which is available for Android and iOS devices. The app will let you watch episodes, vote in the weekly polls, and more. The app also lets you download all of the episodes in your library for offline viewing.

Guest judges

Legendary is back on HBO Max and we're excited to see new voguing houses showcasing their skills, style, and stamina in season three. The Emmy-nominated show has a star-studded line-up of guest judges this season, including Issa Rae, Kelly Rowland, Leslie Jones, Anitta, and Bob the Drag Queen, who will join the judging panel of Leiomy Maldonado, Jameela Jamil, Law Roach, and Keke Palmer.

Each episode, the vogueing houses take to the stage and show off their best voguing and styling as they try to win the $100,000 grand prize. The judges assess each house on their skill, fashion, and stamina to determine which one deserves the title of "Legendary."

While voguing competitions aren't new, Legendary is different in that it has an authentic Ballroom judging style, meaning that each judge is not just giving their opinion on a house's performance. Each of the judges have a "gag flag" that they can use to save a house from elimination if they're receiving poor scores during an elimination round.

The gag flags were first introduced in season 2 and are a great addition to the show. It lets the judges decide whether they want to save a house that has received low scores during an elimination round and gives them more time to dance. However, it's still controversial, as it could leave a house vulnerable if they're not winning.

In addition to a gag flag, this season of Legendary features a new rule that allows any judge to save a house from elimination once. Several judges are split on the idea of this change, but it will still have an impact on the competition.

It's clear that the Legendary judges are a close-knit group, and there's no doubt that they love each other and the show. While they each have their own unique personalities and styles, they all work together well on-set.

During a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Legendary host Law Roach said that he's hoping for more famous alumni to walk the vogue floor during a future season. In particular, he'd like to see Lil' Kim and Naomi Campbell appear.
