The first season of the show introduced us to Jack and Mel - a former marine and local bar and restaurant owner, respectively - who had an instant connection. But while they might seem like a perfect match, they both have a lot of baggage to sort out.

After settling in Virgin River, Mel and Jack discover that the town has a lot of dark secrets that they’d rather keep hidden from each other. This, along with the beautiful surroundings and stunning scenes of the mountains and river, makes for a compelling backdrop for the series.

While the storyline involving Jack and Mel remains at the forefront of the series, we get to see more of the other characters as well. Among them, we have the continuing storyline between Paige and Preacher, who have become close since they met in season 2.

Season 4

The fourth season of Virgin River has officially arrived on Netflix, and it looks like things are about to get even more exciting. In addition to resolving open-ended conflicts like what happens to Hope following her near-fatal accident, the season will also look to redeem Brady, who was sent to jail for shooting Jack at the end of season 3. The series also has two brand-new cast members: Mark Ghanime as the town’s new doctor, Dr. Cameron Hayek, and Kai Bradbury as Doc’s long-lost grandson, whom we don’t know anything about at the moment.

Season 5

Despite the fact that the show has an old-school vibe, it’s also one of the first Netflix dramas to focus on diversity and inclusivity. Jinny Howe, head of drama at Netflix, recently talked about how she hopes the show will be able to include more LGBTQ+ stories in its fifth season.

As a result, we know that the show will have a few new faces in its cast this year. Kandyse McClure, whose most recent acting credit was on the show V-Wars, is set to join the cast for the fifth season.

On top of this, Jem Garrard, who directed on Motherland: Fort Salem, Wynonna Earp, and Charmed, is set to direct a few episodes. Andy Mikita, who has directed on Travelers and Motive, is also expected to return.
