Watching the show

Virgin River is a Netflix original and is available to watch on a variety of devices including smart TVs, game consoles, set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, smartphones, tablets and PCs. You can sign up for a free trial or subscribe to the streaming service on a monthly basis.

The series stars Alexandra Breckenridge as Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife who seeks a fresh start in the quaint town of Virgin River. She finds herself face to face with a host of challenges as she struggles to navigate the unfamiliar terrain.

It’s no secret that this show has a large following, so if you’re in the market for a new Netflix Original to binge watch, we highly recommend giving it a go! You can get started with a monthly subscription for as low as $9.99, and you can even download the series to your tablet or smartphone to watch on the go.

One of the main focuses of season 4 was the announcement of Mel’s pregnancy. While she and Jack are both excited about the news, they’re also a bit confused. The question of paternity is still a mystery, but they’re also faced with the arrival of a handsome doctor who wants to bring his family to Virgin River.

The season also saw the introduction of a few new characters and features several high-tech medical innovations, but the biggest storyline is actually Mel’s pregnancy. She conceives her first child, and although the baby is born naturally, it comes with some unexpected complications. She also learns that her deceased husband’s mother is suing her for the frozen embryos she created.

Season 1

Inspired by Robyn Carr's novels, Virgin River is a Netflix show about a nurse practitioner who moves to a small town in Northern California. The series is full of lovable characters and heartwarming stories that are sure to draw you in.

When season one of Virgin River premiered in December 2019, it quickly became a hit. It follows Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) as she adjusts to life in the quaint town of Virgin River. She makes friends and reunites with old ones, but there are also plenty of heartbreaking situations to keep viewers entertained.

The first season ended with Mel taking a big step: She wants to get married to Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and start a family. But she's not ready to commit, and it's clear Jack isn't comfortable with it either.

Meanwhile, Hope is still dealing with her injuries and isn't sure how she'll be able to continue living her life in Virgin River. She's also tense about the possibility of being replaced by a new doctor at the clinic.

In addition to the returning cast, season 4 of Virgin River is set to feature new characters. Deadline reported that Kai Bradbury and Mark Ghanime will be joining the show as regulars.

Fans of the series have been begging for more from this small-town romance since it debuted, and we think that they'll finally be getting their wish. The official trailer for the fourth season was released last week, and it looks like there's plenty of drama in store for the residents of Virgin River.

Season 2

Virgin River is a small town in Northern California where main character Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckinridge) takes up a job as a nurse and midwife. It's a picturesque place that has everything you could want in a quaint town: a peaceful pace of life, natural beauty and locals with time on their hands who are always willing to gossip.

The show is based on an award-winning book series and while the storylines may seem predictable, there's always a little something new to discover every week. The location is also gorgeous, with towering cliff-faces, waterfalls and lush woodland areas that mirror the scenery of Switzerland.

It's also got a bunch of lovable characters and plenty of drama, which is why it's one of Netflix's most popular shows. The cast includes Alexandra Breckinridge, Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson, Annette O'Toole, Colin Lawrence, Lauren Hammersley, Sarah Dugdale and Benjamin Hollingsworth.

The second season saw a lot of drama and cliffhangers that left viewers guessing what would happen next. For instance, Hope (Annette O'Toole) was seriously injured in a car accident and was in a medically induced coma. Another big cliffhanger involved the mysterious grandson of Doc (Tim Matheson), who turned up looking for him, carrying a huge secret. In addition to all the drama, we also got to see a few new characters like Dr. Cameron Hayek, who joins the team at the clinic and seems to have eyes for Mel.

Season 3

Based on the best-selling books by Robyn Carr, Virgin River is a highly popular Netflix series. Bringing together a mix of drama and suspense, the show is packed with enough twists and turns to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

The first season of the show introduced us to Jack and Mel - a former marine and local bar and restaurant owner, respectively - who had an instant connection. But while they might seem like a perfect match, they both have a lot of baggage to sort out.

After settling in Virgin River, Mel and Jack discover that the town has a lot of dark secrets that they’d rather keep hidden from each other. This, along with the beautiful surroundings and stunning scenes of the mountains and river, makes for a compelling backdrop for the series.

While the storyline involving Jack and Mel remains at the forefront of the series, we get to see more of the other characters as well. Among them, we have the continuing storyline between Paige and Preacher, who have become close since they met in season 2.

Meanwhile, Hope struggles with her memory after a car accident, as she remembers things she shouldn’t. In addition, the series will introduce us to a new character who’s been searching for his grandfather, Doctor Mullins.

While the show has flirted with darkness in the past, this season takes a much darker turn. With a reliance on twists and shocking moments, the more romantic plots take a backseat as each of the characters navigates big emotional developments. While this might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s certainly refreshing to see a different direction in an already engrossing show.

Season 4

The fourth season of Virgin River has officially arrived on Netflix, and it looks like things are about to get even more exciting. The series returns with new episodes starring Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife who moves to Virgin River from Los Angeles and falls for the town’s bar owner Jack (Martin Henderson).

In the season premiere, she tells Jack about her pregnancy and is thrilled to hear he’s the father — but she also has to grapple with the fact that her late husband’s mother may be suing her for the frozen embryos they had together before his death. The situation is complicated by the arrival of a handsome new doctor, who’s all about having a family of his own.

On the flipside, Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson) has his own slew of problems to deal with, including Hope’s (Annette O’Toole) recovery from traumatic brain injury. And then there’s the mysterious new addition to the family: Doc’s long-lost grandson, Denny Cutler.

All in all, the season 4 trailer for Virgin River is pretty dramatic — and it certainly looks to have everything you could ask for. In addition to resolving open-ended conflicts like what happens to Hope following her near-fatal accident, the season will also look to redeem Brady, who was sent to jail for shooting Jack at the end of season 3. The series also has two brand-new cast members: Mark Ghanime as the town’s new doctor, Dr. Cameron Hayek, and Kai Bradbury as Doc’s long-lost grandson, whom we don’t know anything about at the moment.

Season 5

Virgin River, based on Robyn Carr’s series of novels, is a Netflix original series that follows a young midwife and nurse practitioner named Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) who moves to the small town of Virgin River, California. It follows her as she attempts to rebuild her life and overcome her painful past.

The show has been renewed for a fifth season, with production starting in July and filming set to wrap on November 21st. The official Instagram page for the show posted a behind-the-scenes video showing the cast dancing to “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge, teasing fans with glimpses of what’s to come in the upcoming episodes.

Despite the fact that the show has an old-school vibe, it’s also one of the first Netflix dramas to focus on diversity and inclusivity. Jinny Howe, head of drama at Netflix, recently talked about how she hopes the show will be able to include more LGBTQ+ stories in its fifth season.

As a result, we know that the show will have a few new faces in its cast this year. Kandyse McClure, whose most recent acting credit was on the show V-Wars, is set to join the cast for the fifth season.

On top of this, Jem Garrard, who directed on Motherland: Fort Salem, Wynonna Earp, and Charmed, is set to direct a few episodes. Andy Mikita, who has directed on Travelers and Motive, is also expected to return.
