Each episode features a live-action segment that introduces the focus animal and its habitat and provides background information about its behavior and ecology. The show then shifts to an animated segment that demonstrates the Kratt brothers’ adventures with the animals. Another important element of the series is the Creature Power Suits, which are vests designed by Aviva Corcovado (voiced by Athena Karkanis) that allow a user to materialize a suit that has the abilities and/or behavior of a creature. In order to activate the suit, a user inserts a disc containing a creature’s DNA in code into the Suit. Then the user presses the Suit’s main button, which activates it and lets the user use its creature powers.
Using their Creature Power suits, the Kratt brothers can help rescue animals that are in danger of becoming extinct or assist them in foiling villains’ schemes. They can also use their suits to help animals that are injured or stuck in dangerous situations.
The Kratt brothers are voiced by Chris and Martin Kratt, who are real-life zoologists and the creators of popular shows like Kratts’ Creatures and Zoboomafoo. Their natural rapport and humor translate well to their animated counterparts, making the show a fun and engaging way for children to learn about science.

In the series, the Kratt brothers and their crew go on adventures in different places to discover new species of animals. The show uses a mix of animation and live action, as well as comedic devices to create an entertaining program for children.
The Wild Kratts' first adventure takes them to the Arctic tundra. Chris wants to study Arctic wolves, while Martin is more interested in musk oxen. After some disagreement, Chris and Martin split up to spend time with their preferred animal.
After finding a heron, the Wild Kratts team learns that these birds use their legs to jump high. They also have to find a way to make heron creature power discs, as inventor Zach Varmitech is trying to steal their technology.
Next, the Wild Kratts go to the Amazon Rainforest. When they're accidentally miniaturized again, they'll have to rely on their creature powers to survive. They take the help of a poison frog, a creature with special abilities to survive in the rainforest.
When the Wild Kratts discover a colony of busy leafcutter ants, they learn that these ants are farming for themselves and their habitat. They also discover that they can clip leaves from trees to get food back to their nests.
Finally, when the Wild Kratts visit Africa, they come across a baby elephant calf. Martin names it Thornsley, after a thorn in its foot. As the Kratt brothers learn more about this mighty creature, they decide to bring Thornsley back to the Tortuga.
The Wild Kratts' next adventure finds them on a tropical island. When they're not exploring, they're relaxing by floating down an inner tube on a freshwater river. They're also surprised to see a man-eating bull shark. However, they're also thwarted by fashion designer Donita Donata and her henchman Dabio, who want to capture spiders in Central America to get their silk for dresses.

But when they get there, Donita Donata has hacked the lizard's communication system and kidnaps him to sell as a hat in Paris. When they learn the lizard is actually named Splash Claw, they must decode the mystery of water running and save him before it's too late.
In another episode, the Wild Kratts team is on a mission to track down raptors in Africa. But when Gaston Gourmand captures them, they must use all of their animal ID knowledge to round up and rescue the raptors before Gourmand makes his next gourmet bird wing.
Similarly, in the episode "Seahorse", Chris and Martin plan to lie about their Miniaturizer to play with a seahorse. When Aviva sees their scheme, she is a bit suspicious. But when Martin and Chris try to convince her they want to learn how a seahorse interacts with other coral reef creatures, she decides to give them a second chance.
As a result, the Kratt Brothers find themselves in a situation where they must learn to be good little spies to save their new friend from Donita Donata and her robotic fish that are going to collect coral for mass production of seahorse jewellery. In order to rescue them, the Kratt Brothers need to utilise their Creature Power abilities as frogfish, which are some of the fastest hunters of the coral reef.
In addition to the main episodes, the series features a variety of shorts that focus on different themes and teach kids about how to care for animals and plants. These shorts are a great way to introduce kids to the show and help them discover new information about animals, while having fun at the same time!
