She meets a number of interesting people at UNY, including Wiccan Meghan Rotundi (Amanda Foreman) and Julie Emrick, a rock star guitarist who eventually becomes her best friend. She also befriends inventor Sean Blumberg (Greg Grunberg), a chemistry whiz who is as witty as he is sexy.
In a nutshell, Felicity is a smart, funny and slightly goofy show that will have you giggling with delight. It’s a good show to watch on your TV, on your computer or streaming on YouTube, Netflix and Hulu Plus.

Felicity’s freshman year is filled with intoxicating emotions. She meets her quirky resident advisor, Noel, and her first new friend, Julie; she struggles to balance the demands of academics with romantic interests; and she tries to deal with her past relationship with Ben.
During her sophomore year, Felicity’s romance with Noel is further complicated by her friendship with his cousin, Javier (Ali Landry), who is in town to attend a high school graduation. She also enlists Noel’s help to stage an intervention for her friend, Lauren (Sarah LaVelle), who is about to give birth.
Meanwhile, Sean tries to expand his documentary on the love lives of his friends into a reality show and becomes entangled with Meghan, who doesn’t like his approach to dating. In a bid to make up for lost time, he asks Julie out on a date and she says yes -- even though she’s still pondering Noel.
When a boy (Stephen Berra) that Felicity knew when she was 12 comes to her to act on feelings she had for him, she consults Ben, who gives her an honest assessment of his character and advises her not to be too quick to judge. She also applies to a genetics seminar with Dr. McGrath, which she blows off; and she mails a tape to her mother Carole.
During her junior year, Felicity faces some tough decisions about her future. She must choose between a prestigious internship in New York or a California summer with Ben; she struggles to keep her pregnancy secret from Ruby, who wants to be a mother; and she is surprised by the re-emergence of her attraction to Noel. She also has to decide whether or not to break up with Javier for Samuel’s sake.

The first JJ Abrams show to hit the big time, Felicity was a teen angst-fest that sparked a lot of attention in its initial run. Its premise was simple: 18-year-old Felicity Porter (Keri Russell) follows her high school crush, Ben Covington (Scott Speedman), to college in New York City.
When her parents learn of her decision to follow Ben to the big city, they demand an explanation for it - and Felicity drops the bomb that she’s moving there to be with him. It’s the beginning of a love triangle that will linger long after the series has ended.
Felicity’s story is pretty typical for a teen drama, but there’s one key element to the show that sets it apart: its honest, open-hearted approach to taboo topics. This was especially true in its early years, when it embraced the hard stuff like rape and sexual harassment.
In the pilot episode, we’re introduced to Felicity Porter, a shy loner with no friends and no idea what she wants out of life. When her classmate Ben writes something deep in her yearbook, she changes her plans to move to New York City with him.
She does this on a whim, even though her parents think she’s going to Stanford to study pre-med. She hasn’t had a lot of courage to talk to Ben, so it’s a huge leap for her to make on her own.
But it’s worth it, because she does end up falling for Ben’s RA Noel Crane (Scott Foley). They start dating while Felicity tries to figure out where her feelings lie, and the rest of the season is full of escapades that are genuinely funny, heartfelt and touching.
It’s a shame that the show was so overrated, as it had some real potential. The story was well written and the characters were likable enough to keep us watching, but it was just too much drama, too many cliches and not enough wit.
The only thing that saved this show was the performance of Keri Russell, who deserved better than to have her ratings plummet when she cut her hair in Season 2. I’m glad she was able to get her career back on track, but I can’t help but feel bad for her.
