How to Watch Exandria Unlimited

Exandria Unlimited (EU) is a spinoff of Critical Role that explores Matt Mercer’s world of Exandria. EU introduced new characters and a new Dungeon Master to the series, and was set to prepare players for campaign three, but it also expanded into a mini-campaign of its own.

The four-episode limited series Exandria Unlimited: Calamity begins streaming tonight, May 26, and airs weekly on Thursdays. It’s set a thousand years before the original campaign and features CollegeHumor’s Brennan Lee Mulligan as DM, along with previous EU DM Aabria Iyengar.

How to Watch

After a summer of mini-games, Critical Role has reentered Matt Mercer's Exandria universe to explore a new era. It starts Thursday, May 26, with Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, a four-episode limited series that will appear weekly while Campaign 3 takes a break.

Calamity reunites CollegeHumor and Dimension 20's Brennan Lee Mulligan as DM, along with previous Exandria Unlimited DM Aabria Iyengar, who will also play a character in the limited series. Other actors, including Marisha Ray and Sam Riegel, are also involved.

Calamity takes place almost a thousand years before the Exandria campaigns, Vox Machina, The Mighty Nein, Bells Hells and the Crown Keepers, and follows six distinguished heroes from the Age of Arcanum. They uncover an insidious corruption beneath a city they've sworn to protect. It's an adventure that will test their mettle and ultimately lead to a climactic turning point in the narrative world.

Episode 1

Exandria Unlimited, a series of short campaigns running throughout the world of Critical Role, brings players outside of the show's core cast to explore the stories and history of Matthew Mercer's Dungeons & Dragons universe. It's a chance for players to see the world through a different lens and for new Dungeon Masters to get a taste of DMing in Mercer's Exandria.

Episode 1 of Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, a four-episode mini-campaign, premieres Thursday May 26, and continues weekly on Thursdays until June 17. You can watch episodes on Twitch or YouTube immediately after they air, then they'll be available on the Critical Role podcast network Monday afternoons after their initial broadcasts.

This campaign also marks the debut of CollegeHumor and Dimension 20's Brennan Lee Mulligan as a DM, alongside previous Exandria Unlimited DM Aabria Iyengar and Critical Role main cast members Marisha Ray, Travish Willingham, and Sam Riegel.

Episode 2

Exandria Unlimited is a collection of original D&D actual-play miniseries set in Matthew Mercer's world of Exandria. These one-shots do not impact the main campaigns and feature established characters from the campaigns.

In episode 2, Dorian realizes that the circlet they found is a Vestige of Divergence - powerful items forged during the Calamity which are directly connected to certain gods. It's a super rare item, and Dorian has some serious doubts about giving it away to anyone.

Zerxus goes to speak with the first oracle who went mad, and he has a vision of a portal. He enters it, and is greeted by a grievously wounded fiend. He casts cure wounds on him, and then tells him the story of the Schism – the war that landed him in god prison. The man begins to look like Evandrin, and Zerxus knows that this is no accident.

Episode 3

For fans of Critical Role's TTRPG actual play series Dimension 20 (and those who are new to the franchise), the upcoming Exandria Unlimited: Calamity miniseries is a chance to step into Matt Mercer's world. It starts tonight, and the DM for the four-episode campaign is Brennan Lee Mulligan, the GM behind the Dimension 20 series.

After the party arrives at Emon to seek out a powerful runechild, they’re met with an unexpected obstacle: Nameless Ones. Their goal may seem straightforward, but it’s complicated by the Nameless Ones’ relentless pursuit of them.

The group quickly learns that the Tree of Names prevents travel between planes and inscribes protections throughout Exandria. They also discover that Laerryn had tried to test her plane-crossing engine on Evandrin before. Fortunately, Nydas is able to steal her memories and give the Ring of Brass an idea of what she might be up to next.

Episode 4

Episode 5

Several years ago, Critical Role launched Exandria Unlimited. This spinoff of the series featured new cast members like Daymond and Aimee Carerro alongside returning characters from the core campaigns.

The first season took place on the continent of Tal'Dorei and followed a group of adventurers as they traveled across the land. It was released in June of 2021, followed by a two-part special Exandria Unlimited: Kymal on March 31 and April 1, 2022.

Exandria Unlimited is an in-canon expansion of the Critical Role universe, introducing new characters and DMs to the world of Tal'Dorei. It's also a fantastic example of the power of a liveplay show where the story is created by everyone involved in the game. It's an experience you won't want to miss. It's worth checking out the latest episode of EXU to see what it's all about!

Episode 6

The latest from the crew at Dropout Games, Exandria Unlimited is a six episode Dungeons and Dragons based reality television series that features some of the world's most talented actors. A spinoff of their hit Critical Role web series, Exandria Unlimited debuted in June of 2021 and continues to this day with a slick mobile app for iOS and Android. It's worth a watch for fans of the tabletop RPG and a little bit of light-hearted tinkering. The show is a must-watch for anyone who has ever played Dungeons and Dragons. The aforementioned award-winning app also provides a convenient way to track your favorite characters and keep tabs on their latest and greatest.

Episode 7

This week on exandria unlimited, our heroes arrive at the mysterious ruins of Niirdal-Poc. But they soon discover something much more than a forgotten city.

Episode 7 of the new spinoff from Critical Role focuses on the Crown Keepers as they pursue answers to a series of mysteries across Tal'Dorei. It also introduces the newest player character, Myr'atta Niselor.

It's been about six years since the Crown Keepers were last seen in the first campaign. They return in the second season, Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, which takes place nearly a thousand years before Vox Machina's adventures in Tal'Dorei.

Brennan Lee Mulligan is the GM of the new miniseries, guiding Luis Carazo, Aabria Iyengar, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham and Lou Wilson as they uncover an ancient corruption beneath Emon that threatens to end the world. As calamity draws near, their last hope lies in the Ring of Brass.

Episode 8

Exandria Unlimited is an eight-episode miniseries that takes its players back in time to the Age of Arcanum. A group of burgeoning adventurers explores the city of Emon and the Upper Slums in search of the big score.

This episode is the first of many that will be aired over the next several months. The show is a collaboration between Critical Role and Dropout Games, the makers of the TTRPG actual play title Dimension 20.

While it's not as slick as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version of the game, it has enough bells and whistles to keep your attention and your credit card intact. In addition to the aforementioned Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the title also supports Windows, iOS and Android. You can find the full list of supported platforms here. The show is currently free to watch on YouTube and Twitch with a limited number of premium tiers available at the time of publication.

Episode 9

After Critical Role wrapped up campaign two last summer, its creators decided to kick off a short limited series set in the Dungeons & Dragons world of Exandria. Its four episodes, which air Thursday nights on Twitch and YouTube, serve double duty: They give the group’s performers a break from the weekly grind of their core campaign and they give fans an opportunity to explore a different part of Exandria they otherwise would not have seen.

CollegeHumor and Dimension 20’s Brennan Lee Mulligan (along with previous Exandria Unlimited DM Aabria Iyengar) guides players Lou Wilson, Luis Carazo, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham as six distinguished heroes from the Age of Arcanum uncover an insidious corruption beneath their city Avalir. They must band together to prevent a cataclysmic event known as Calamity before it happens.
