In the 1920s, '30s & '40s, Hal Roach Studios released more than 220 Our Gang short films about neighborhood kids. They were a staple of children's television for decades.

In 1994, Penelope Spheeris gathered a group of child stars to remake the Our Gang shorts for the big screen. She introduced Spanky McFarland, Alfalfa Switzer, Darla and the rest of the Rascals to a new generation.

Spanky

Spanky is one of the most well known members of The Little Rascals. He is an adorable, bumbling, and often mischievous child who joins the group in early shorts, like Free Eats and Spanky's Misadventures.

Alfalfa

Alfalfa is a nine-year-old boy who falls in love with schoolmate Darla. He and his friends decide to sabotage the relationship, as they fear it will hurt their chances in the next Soap Box Derby race.

Spanky and Stymie lead an anti-girl club called the "He-Man Woman Haters Club" and they pick their buddy Alfalfa to represent them in the soap box car rally. When they find Alfalfa canoodling with Darla, the gang decides to sabotage their romantic outing and try to break up the couple.

When Spanky and the gang sneak into the ballet recital in disguise, they unintentionally run into Butch and Woim who mix them in with Darla. In addition, they accidentally leave their frog on Alfalfa and get mixed up in the recital. They finally get caught and scolded by the furious ballet teacher.

As Alfalfa runs to escape Butch and the Woim, he notices that his underwear has slipped off. As he looks down to retrieve them, he is shocked by seeing Darla and Waldo watching from the hot tub nearby.

Alfalfa decides that the best way to win back Darla's heart is by winning her in a go-cart derby. But he is not so sure that his friends will support him in the contest, since he was responsible for breaking up his relationship with Darla. Ultimately, the gang decides to build another go-cart, this time with new parts that will allow them to compete.

Darla

Darla is the sweetheart of Alfalfa in The Little Rascals. She's also a fan favorite. She's got a great personality, a heart of gold and a lust for life that Spanky can't resist.

She has a lot of friends, including Porky and Spanky (who are referred to as "Darla's gang"), Wheezer, and Mickey Gubitosi. She loves her family and is very kind to them.

However, she has a few annoyances that make her a frustrating character to have around. For example, she is often exasperated by her father's exasperation with her friends. In addition, she often tries to avoid confrontation and is easily frightened by strangers or other kids.

Her family is not as rich as the Hood family and is only revealed to be a dentist in Feed 'Em And Weep, where her dad refers to his wife as "Mother." He remarries after her mother passes away and he has a son named Junior.

Stymie

The Little Rascals are a classic American sitcom that ran from the 1920s to the 1940s. They were one of the first animated series to have a syndication deal, making their cartoons available to millions of fans across the world.

Stymie is one of the most memorable characters from The Little Rascals. He was a member of the He-Man Woman Haters Club and he tried to sabotage Darla’s relationship with Alfalfa.

Porky

Porky Pig is one of the most popular and beloved characters in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies franchises. He’s a lovable pig with an impressive stutter and a number of escapades that rival his best friend, Daffy Duck.

As a cartoon character, Porky is one of the most successful in the series, with 159 appearances (second only to Bugs Bunny’s 168 shorts).
