How to Watch Revenge of the Nerds Online

While not as harsh or one-sided as National Lampoon's Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds still portrays jocks in an extreme and sometimes insensitive way. Whether it's smashing up houses, letting pigs loose on campus, snarling abuse or mooning people from their trucks, there are plenty of anti-nerd persecutors in this film.

1. Watch the trailer.

Nerds Gilbert (Anthony Edwards) and Lewis (Robert Carradine) decide to form a fraternity on their college campus. But when the Alpha Betas, led by jock Stan (Ted McGinley), start to humiliate them, they decide to take matters into their own hands.

Revenge of the Nerds paved the way for a plethora of films that embraced people outside the fit, tanned, shiny-smile ideal that dominated mainstream culture in the 1980s. It also launched a wave of imitators, including Weird Science and Real Genius.

The original film sold out at every theater it played in, and its cult following grew steadily. It was a cultural statement that wore its heart on its sleeve. But three years later, it was already feeling a little dated.

Thankfully, the sequel, Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise, nailed the humor in a big way. It wasn’t afraid to ratchet up the grossness with fart jokes and bodily fluids galore.

It didn’t even skimp on the sexual content, either. The film features a panty raid with full female nudity, and frat boys mooning girls in their underwear.

Parents should be aware that this R-rated comedy includes drug use, heavy drinking and smoking cigarettes and pot. There’s also some mild profanity and suggestive language.

The movie also promotes a number of stereotypes, targeting Asians, gays, and fat girls. A number of students engage in sexual activity during the film, including making out with each other and engaging in heavy petting.

The film’s climax is a bit of a letdown, as it feels like a pale imitation of its predecessor. It ratchets up the cliche in a number of ways, from the broken-down hotel the nerds live in to the vaguely “native American” ritual at the end.

2. Buy the DVD.

The first of four 'Revenge of the Nerds' films, Jeff Kanew's 1984 teen comedy was a huge box-office hit. Revenge of the Nerds mixed the elements of National Lampoon's Animal House and Porky's into a witty, if not quite original, teen comedic film.

Freshmen nerds Lewis (Robert Carradine) and Gilbert (Anthony Edwards) find themselves evicted from their college dormitory when the Alpha Beta fraternity burns down their house. To avoid a similar fate, they band together with a group of socially inept dorks to start their own fraternity, causing all kinds of problems for the jocks who run it.

When the Alpha Betas and their sister sorority, Pi Delta Pis, disrupt their party by bringing and releasing pigs, the nerds exact revenge. The fraternities set up peeping toms so they can watch naked women, and a nerd wearing a mask pretends to be Stan to have sex with his girlfriend, among other sneaky modes of revenge.

The movie is a lot of fun to watch, and it also offers some very funny moments. The movie contains plenty of binge drinking, sex talk, making out, nudity, and foul language.

In fact, it is a pretty good example of a 'college movie gone wild'. It is cheap, slack-stick, and sexual in a way that a lot of other movies made at the same time (American Pie, Eurotrip, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) are not.

The DVD includes a commentary track by director Kanew, as well as several featurettes and six deleted scenes. Some of the features are interesting, while others are just a bunch of poorly edited footage. But all in all, the DVD is a great way to get to know the film and its characters better.

3. Watch it on Netflix.

Revenge of the Nerds is a comedy that features a group of misfits at Adams College who decide to form their own fraternity. Pushed to the brink by the jock fraternity, they resort to desperate measures to get back at their enemies and win their rightful place in Greek society.

Parents need to know that this R-rated film is full of sex and drug use. It features a panty raid that involves full female nudity and a mooning scene in which the frat boys expose their bare behinds. It also contains a lot of language, including f-bombs and a few naughty words.

In addition, there are plenty of stereotypes that are targeted at Asians, gays, and fat girls. There is also some smoking of cigarettes and pot, as well as a lot of binge drinking and sex talk.

The plot centers around Gilbert (Anthony Edwards) and Lewis (Robert Carradine), nerds who are being harassed by the Alpha Beta fraternity, and its sister sorority, Pi Delta Pi. After Gilbert and Lewis are thrown out of their dorms, they join a group of other nerds and try to find a way to make their enemies pay for their actions.

While Gilbert and Lewis are rejected by 29 different fraternities, they are able to join the black fraternity Lambda Lambda Lambda, led by U.N. Jefferson, and are subsequently granted full membership.

However, the Alpha Betas and the Pi Delta Pis are not pleased with their membership and disrupt a party that the nerds have organized. Jefferson and a group of Tri-Lambs then arrive to intimidate the Alpha Betas, giving Gilbert an opportunity to deliver a speech about discrimination that was a hit with everyone in attendance.

4. Watch it on Hulu.

If you’ve been looking to watch revenge of the nerds, Hulu is one of the best places to stream it online. The streaming service offers a large selection of movies and TV shows, including many popular titles that Netflix doesn’t offer. It’s also a great way to discover new content.

The original 1984 comedy was an instant cult classic that still stands the test of time, though it’s not without some issues. For one, it condones rape, which was considered a very taboo behavior back then. It also features a group panty raid that would launch a thousand thinkpieces about invasion of privacy and the lasting effects of sexual trauma today.

Thankfully, a remake is currently being developed by Seth MacFarlane and Keith and Kenny Lucas. They’ve written for Family Guy and 22 Jump Street, among others.

You can stream the movie on Hulu by signing up for a free account. It’s an excellent way to watch a wide variety of content on the go, from award-winning movies and TV shows to guilty pleasure reality TV.

If you want to watch revenge of the nerds, the streaming service has a large library of content, including a few older titles that aren’t available on Netflix. You can also find many recent releases, including the award-winning Minding the Gap, which was nominated for an Oscar this year.

The nerds are a group of socially-challenged misfits who try to join a fraternity at Adams College. After being rejected by all the fraternities on campus, they decide to form their own. But when the Alpha Betas start harassing them, they’re forced to band together to fight for their lives. They even acquire a dilapidated house near the school and fix it up as their home.

A group of bullied outcasts and misfits resolve to fight back for their peace and self-respect in this raunchy teen sex comedy from director Jeff Kanew. Starring Robert Carradine, Anthony Edwards and Timothy Busfield, Revenge of the Nerds is a comedy that’s sure to get you giggling.
