How to Watch the 355 Online

A wild card CIA agent teams up with international agents to save the world in Simon Kinberg’s action thriller, The 355. Starring Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Penelope Cruz and Diane Kruger, the film will be released on Jan 7th.

Directed by X-Men: Dark Phoenix’s Simon Kinberg, the movie is based on an idea by Jessica Chastain. The cast also includes Bingbing Fan, Sebastian Stan and Edgar Ramirez.

The story

CIA agent Mace (Jessica Chastain) is assigned to a mission that will send her all over the world in order to recover a top-secret weapon that has fallen into mercenary hands. As she tries to protect her country, she teams up with several badass female international spies from all over the globe to take down the elusive enemy.

The 355 is an upcoming spy thriller directed by Simon Kinberg, who previously directed X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Glimpse and Trouble. It stars Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger and Fan Bingbing as a group of world-renowned spies.

There's an intriguing story behind the code number 355. It's believed that during the American Revolution, a woman known as Agent 355 was able to help the Patriots win the war. But despite being credited with saving the war and helping America to win, there's no actual proof of this woman’s actions. That means historians have spent decades imagining the woman in question, based on her reputed abilities, and even creating new legends about her adventures in espionage.

This story is a cautionary tale, however. It's one that could easily slip into mythology without proper attribution and research, as many current historians are skeptical of the idea of a female agent who helped the American Revolutionaries. In her book The Woman Agent in the Culper Ring: How a Secret Agent Changed History, historian Linda Bellerjeau points out that while it's possible that a woman helped Woodhull or Townsend escape to Setauket, it's less likely that she was a spy.

So while it's a smart move for the director to make The 355 a film about the real-life story of a female agent, she's probably better off making another film about an actual woman spy. The real-life women who helped the Americans win the Revolutionary War have a much more compelling and complex story that deserves to be told.

But despite this movie's ambitions, the storyline simply doesn't gel. The action and plot feel conceived from a slew of spy tropes, and the characters aren't fully developed. It's all the more frustrating when it feels like a rip-off of recent Mission: Impossible and James Bond movies.

The cast

The 355 is an action-packed spy thriller starring Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Penelope Cruz and Diane Kruger. The film is directed by Simon Kinberg, who also wrote the script with Theresa Rebeck. It’s also a Universal production and will open in theaters on January 7, 2022.

The plot centers around a group of international agents who are on the run from mercenaries who have stolen a top-secret drive. The CIA agent Mace (Chastain) is the leader of the team. She’s a steely, single-minded woman who doesn’t talk to anyone but her best friend Nick (Sebastian Stan).

When Clarke (Jason Flemyng) arrives at the airport to demand his drive back, Mace and her team are ready to give him whatever it takes. But when Clarke’s men beat them up for bringing a decoy device, they realize that Clarke is using them as bait to lure the CIA into killing Graciela’s family and Lin.

After their mission goes awry, the women must join forces to stop Clarke from getting what he wants and save Graciela’s family. As they work together to protect their loved ones, the women must also deal with their own personal demons.

The cast of The 355 is a who’s who of the action and spy genre, with Oscar-winning actors like Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, and Penelope Cruz joining a cast of newer faces like Diane Kruger and Bingbing Fan. The movie is directed by Simon Kinberg, who made his directorial debut with X-Men: Dark Phoenix and has written the screenplay for The 355 with Theresa Rebeck.

While the film’s cast is top-notch, it doesn’t make up for its stale story and shoddy action sequences. The movie tries to be a Bourne-like heist flick, but it doesn’t have the kinetic brilliance that makes the Paul Greengrass movies so thrilling. The characters trudge through their bits of background as though they were just a chore to get out of the way, and fight sequences often look like stunt doubles with little effort put into them.

The film has a slew of big set pieces and plenty of great looking fight scenes, but these are sometimes overshadowed by non-stop pacing that robs the film of energy. It’s a shame because the film would have been much more entertaining if it didn’t rush its action.

The trailer

A new trailer is out for The 355, the all-female spy thriller starring Jessica Chastain and an impressive array of big name actresses. It's directed by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) and penned by Theresa Rebeck.

The film centers on Mason Browne (Chastain), a CIA agent who is drawn to a group of international spies who are attempting to prevent World War III from breaking out. The movie's cast includes Lupita Nyong'o (Black Panther), Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger and Bingbing Fan, with Sebastian Stan (The Falcon, Winter Soldier) and Edgar Ramirez joining them as fellow CIA and DNI officers.

Director Simon Kinberg has plenty of action/spy movie experience, so it's no surprise that he's putting this group together. He's directed a number of X-Men movies and has an impressive track record as a screenwriter.

There's a lot of action going on in The 355's trailer, and it's not just limited to the big set pieces. It also offers some excellent banter between the spies and some good looking fight scenes. The whole thing is looking like an absolute blast, so be sure to give it a watch for yourself below!

As we mentioned, The 355 is set to hit theaters this January. It's going to be a great way to kick off the 2022 film calendar. If you want to see it on the big screen, you can catch it in theaters starting Friday, January 7, 2022.

It should be available for streaming on the Peacock streaming service 45 days after its release in theaters, making it an ideal movie to see before the year ends. You can stream it on the Peacock website or you can download it for streaming or to watch later on your computer, mobile device, or tablet.

In addition to being available on the Peacock service, The 355 is also a good option for those who enjoy watching movies on Netflix. The movie has a 31% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 44 rating on Metacritic, so it looks like a solid choice for those who are looking to kick off their movie viewing year with an action-packed thriller.

The score

The 355 is an action thriller that features a star-packed cast. It was directed by Simon Kinberg (The Martian) and co-written by Oscar-nominee David Lowery (Les Miserables). The film stars Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Fan Bingbing, Diane Kruger, and Lupita Nyong’o.

The story revolves around a top-secret weapon that has fallen into the wrong hands and a group of international agents, led by Chastain, must work together to recover it. Fortunately, this team is made up of a diverse group that works well together to get the job done.

However, while the action is entertaining, it doesn't do enough to elevate The 355 above the standard genre fare. The lack of compelling characters makes it all feel very stale and uninspired.

While it does have some decent set-pieces, the overall performance by Chastain and Cruz is underwhelming. The script is also a bit bland, which doesn't make the film any more enjoyable to watch.

Finally, the film's directing is terrible. It tries too hard to be over the top and edgy and doesn't give the actors any room to breathe and relax in their roles. This, coupled with the bad action and mediocre editing, really takes the shine off of the film.

The 355 opened to a dismal $4.8 million domestically, which was the lowest debut of 2022 so far. Its poor performance came as a surge in COVID-19 cases due to the highly infectious omicron variant further spooks older female moviegoers, the target demo for The 355.

In addition to its disappointing opening weekend, The 355 received negative reviews from critics. The Rotten Tomatoes score currently stands at a meager 27 percent. The site's consensus reads, "Kinberg wastes his talented cast on a forgettable story, unremarkably told."

Meanwhile, audiences gave the film a B+ CinemaScore. The film also scored a 76% positive rating on audience feedback website PostTrak.

While it may be a good film to see on a Saturday night, The 355 isn't worth your time and effort. There are plenty of better movies out there that you'll enjoy more than this one.
