It also features some mild cursing, though most of the movie's violence is fairly unobtrusive. It's a good movie for a date, but there are some very intense moments.

The Bourne Identity (2002)

While the movie is essentially an action-packed spy thriller, there are moments where the plot twists and turns to provide viewers with a deeper understanding of Bourne's motivations and the people who want him dead. Despite its flaws, The Bourne Identity remains a worthy addition to the oeuvre of Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass.

Director Doug Liman, whose career in the independent film world centered around Swingers and Go, used handheld cameras during some of the action scenes to add realism. He did this without sacrificing the fast-paced style that made the previous films in the series so memorable.

The second entry in the series, The Bourne Supremacy, took on a more modern slant, largely reflecting the changing world of the 2000s, while the third entry, The Bourne Ultimatum, was a darker take on the original story. This fourth entry, The Bourne Legacy, continues the theme of a secret government training program called Operation Blackbriar that helps young assassins develop their skills and kill targets, but this time the action is focused on a rogue agent named Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) rather than Jason Bourne.

As a spin-off, The Bourne Legacy has its flaws, but it is still a very enjoyable film. Its pacing is excellent, it has a lot of action-packed sequences and it features great performances from its lead actors.

Actors who have appeared in previous Bourne films, such as Franka Potente, appear in the film for cameos and it is a shame that they don’t get more screen time. But the film’s plot is complicated and there are a few points that will be lost on non-Bourne fans.

This film is also very much a revenge thriller, and while some of the action scenes aren’t as visceral or expertly choreographed as the earlier movies in the series, they are still very good. The action is thrilling and the music by James Newton Howard is also excellent.

However, the film is a bit too long and a little ponderous, especially in the beginning. The plot is also a bit too complicated, and it takes a while to get to the good stuff.

In the meantime, we are treated to a very interesting subplot, involving a man with a very powerful memory. His name is David Webb and he is a professor at Georgetown University who is struggling to deal with his own memory lapses, as well as the deadly Jason Bourne-psyche that seems to take over whenever there is danger in the air.

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)

Paul Greengrass’s third film loosely based on Robert Ludlum’s novels is a great action movie that has a lot to say about what it means to be a man and what it takes to be a hero. Matt Damon is once again the elusive Bourne, an assassin who tries to clear his name and end the CIA’s behavioral modification program known as Treadstone while making amends for some of his past wrongdoings.

This is probably the best of the three bourne movies. It is a superb, action-packed thriller that features a great cast, including Joan Allen as Pamela Landy and David Strathairn as Vosen.

In this installment, a British reporter named Simon Ross (Paddy Considine) reveals a leak that implicates the CIA and its new project called Blackbriar. After that, both the CIA and Bourne hunt down Ross as he attempts to uncover the truth about this new program.

Ultimatum is an excellent film, and it’s easily one of the best action movies of 2007. While it lacks the emotional depth of its predecessors, it’s still a high-octane thrill ride that is as thrilling as anything you will see this summer.

The film has an amazing cast, led by Matt Damon and Joan Allen. Both actors have a strong grasp of their roles, and they play well off each other.

When Jason Bourne (Damon) is forced to kill a Russian assassin in Moscow, he tries to clear his name by going to a CIA substation that is located inside the office of Daniels, the agent responsible for the Treadstone project. He also tries to help Pamela Landy (Joan Allen) share the tape that exposes the Treadstone program with her boss, Abbott.

As Bourne and the CIA search for the truth about the Treadstone program, they discover that there are other people involved in this operation who have their own agendas. They also find that there are some unresolved issues from Bourne’s past that he must resolve.

This is a fast-paced action thriller that has a lot to say about the human costs of war and security. It’s a brilliant movie that is easy to recommend.
