Red Bull Rampage is One of the Most Exhilarating Sports to Watch

Rampage is one of the most exhilarating sports to watch, with athletes taking on some of the biggest cliffs on the planet. It’s a competition that takes the freeride world by storm and is unlike anything else.

This year’s edition is set to see 18 of the best in the world descend on the red rocks of Virgin, Utah for a creative battle of mind-blowing lines. Four-time champion Brandon Semenuk is back to defend his title, while three-time winner Kurt Sorge, double American champion Kyle Strait and big slopestyle rival Brett Rheeder will also compete.

Every year, a unique group of mountain bikers come to Hurricane, Utah in the southwest United States to compete in one of the most renowned big-mountain competitions on earth. This event, now in its 18th year, is a challenge that puts riders’ guts, skill and creativity to the test.

Unlike other mountain bike competitions, Rampage requires competitors to create their own lines down the mountains. This gives them a chance to experiment with new tricks and to take their riding to the next level. Riders such as slope-style legend Emil Johansson, modern free-rider Brett Rheeder and fan favorite Andreu Lacondeguy represent a range of different styles that you won’t find at any other competition.

Red Bull Rampage is a unique event that attracts a wide variety of riders with skill sets that aren’t often seen at other competitions. The range of skills that riders bring to the competition means you’ll see a variety of stunts, including backflips and double backflips.

This year’s line-up features some big names from the mountain biking world such as Canadian Brandon Semenuk, three-time winner Kurt Sorge and double American champion Kyle Strait. There will also be some new faces including Dylan Stark, a relative newcomer to the freeride scene who came from BMX.

To add to the intensity of the action, Rampage will be broadcast live over T-Mobile’s 5G network which will provide fans with more viewing angles of the course and riders. The exclusive T-Mobile 5G POV drone camera will capture footage from the course and send it back to Red Bull’s on-site production studio in near real-time for inclusion in the live broadcast.

The T-Mobile 5G network is America’s most reliable and fastest network. This means it’s the ideal choice for watching the action live at Rampage 2022, and you can stream it on any device using the Red Bull app or the T-Mobile mobile browser.

You can watch the event on Friday 21 October (local time) in the UK, and it will also be shown on Red Bull TV and ESPN+ at different times across the globe. The event starts at 18:00 local time and runs until 20:00.

Replays

Red Bull Rampage is no doubt the most entertaining competition in the sport of mountain biking. The awe-inspiring spectacle is only outdone by the thrill of competing for top honors at this prestigious competition, held annually in Utah's rugged and demanding terrain.

The best way to experience this epic event is to watch it live via Red Bull TV or, for the American viewer, ESPN+ (which also provides a plethora of other sports and entertainment content). In addition to the usual viewing options, the competition is also being broadcast in a new format, including a full on-demand replay.

Alternatively, you can enjoy the event on the go with the latest and greatest in wireless connectivity through America's largest and fastest 5G network. The T-Mobile 5G POV drone will provide viewers with a jaw dropping first-person view of the action as it unfolds, while an on-site production studio will be ready to capture awe-inspiring aerial shots and present them in near real-time.

You can also try your luck at winning a trip to the competition by entering a lucky draw. The prize is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete with your favorite freeriders in the ultimate high alpine test of human endurance and psyche. It's an experience that will leave you stomping the stuff in no time. For more information, visit Red Bull's official website. There you will find all the relevant facts and figures, from venue access to on-site amenities to wristband pickup and logistics.

Merchandise

The Red Bull Rampage is a jaw-dropping event that draws the world’s best freeride mountain bikers to a remote location in Utah. Each rider is given 9 days to prepare for the competition, including scouting lines and grooming trails. This is no easy task, especially in an environment where only sandbags are allowed as structural material.

You can watch all the action live on ESPN+ in the United States, and on Red Bull TV worldwide. You can also watch the complete event on-demand on both platforms following the competition. Spectators can even tune in to a condensed 2.5-hour replay that will air on ESPN on October 30th.

While you’re at it, grab the raddest Rampage merchandise in town. There are plenty of Red Bull Rampage-inspired products, ranging from T-shirts to stickers to wall art and home decor. The best part? Each one of these products is designed and sold by independent artists.

This long sleeve top is designed in polyester and cotton for comfort, and rocks a big 'rampage' print on the back and a clever incorporated contour line design. It also has the oh-so-popular redbull logo on the front. The sleeve is also made of an innovative, eco-friendly and cool-looking material that’s both lightweight and durable, which is why we named it the t-shirt of the month. For something to wear in the mountains, you can’t go wrong with this rover-sized shirt.

FAQ

Red Bull Rampage is the world's largest freeride mountain bike competition, and it takes place on near-vertical sandstone ridges in a remote location outside of Virgin, Utah. It's a three-day event: the first day is for qualifiers, the second is for final practice and the third is for finals.

The contest is invite-only, but riders who finish in the top 10 of the previous year's competition qualify automatically. Wildcards, selected by a committee of former Rampage competitors, pro athletes, judges and so on, round out the field.

To prepare for the finals, Red Bull Rampagers scout lines, groom trails, and build ramps with help from a hand-picked two-person crew. You can't use power tools, and the only structural materials Red Bull allows are sandbags, so this work is heavy and labor-intensive.

On finals day, each rider gets two race runs to ride their lines down to the bottom of the mountain and receive a score from a panel of judges. The athlete who earns the highest score wins the event.

For those who can't make it to the venue, Red Bull Rampage will be streamed live on ESPN+ in the US and on Red Bull TV worldwide. There will also be a condensed 2.5-hour replay of the event on ESPN on October 30th. In addition, a new Red Bull Signature Series show will air on ESPN2 that takes viewers behind-the-scenes of the event and closer than ever to the athletes themselves. The premiere will feature Carson Storch, Jaxson Riddle, Cam Zink and Brage Vestavik. Tickets can be purchased here, or the first 100 T-Mobile customers to arrive will get free entry as the Un-carrier returns as the official 5G sponsor of Rampage.
