Watch Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Online

Created and written by Danny McBride, Righteous Gemstones tells the story of a powerful televangelist family whose deviant behavior has corrupted their wealth. It’s a comedy that makes no bones about these people being bad, but it also finds the humanity in them.

The series centers around widower Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) and his two immature children, Jesse (Danny McBride), Judy (Edi Patterson) and Kelvin (Adam DeVine). They lead opulent lives funded by church donations.

How to watch

The Righteous Gemstones is a comedy that follows a televangelist family that lives a lavish lifestyle funded by their millions of followers. Created by Danny McBride, the show is one of HBO's best-selling comedies and will soon return for a third season.

The first season of the series introduced the Gemstone family - Jesse (Danny McBride), Judy (Edi Patterson) and Kelvin (Adam Devine) - as dysfunctional siblings who barely practiced any of the Christian values they preach to their millionaire followers. However, they all made a promise to improve their relationships in the aftermath of the Season 1 finale.

The second season finds the Gemstone family being threatened by outsiders from both past and present who want to destroy their empire. As a result, the Gemstones must decide how to balance their hypocrisy with genuine faith.

Episode 1

The Righteous Gemstones is an irreverent comedy about a televangelist family that leads opulent lives funded by church donations. It stars Danny McBride and John Goodman, along with Edi Patterson and Adam DeVine.

The series is filmed entirely on location in South Carolina and focuses on the family's lavish church compound, which is designed to speak to each member's specific character quirks. This helps keep the show's humor intact and makes it more engaging than some of McBride's other work.

Season 2 of the series, which premieres on HBO on January 9, 2022, finds the blessed Gemstone family threatened by outsiders from both the past and present who wish to destroy their empire. This includes a sleuthing reporter (Jason Schwartzman) and a competing megachurch pastor (Eric Andre).

Episode 2

The Gemstones continue to be threatened by outsiders from both the past and present. In season two of HBO's The Righteous Gemstones, Eli (John Goodman) and his family face a number of threats including investigative journalist Thaniel Block (Jason Schwartzman), Junior (Eric Roberts), and an old friend from Eli's criminal past.

Thankfully, the show's writing is sharper and more complex this year. It's still a great dark comedy, but the larger-than-life characters (especially Walton Goggins' Uncle Baby Billy) make it all the more captivating and addictive.

Episode 2 begins with a surprise meeting between Eli and Thaniel, an obnoxiously pretentious Brooklyn jagoff who claims to be investigating a past indictment. But it's Thaniel's story about Eli's dead wife Aimee-Leigh that really hits home.

Episode 3

Danny McBride (HBO's Vice Principals and Eastbound & Down) co-creates and stars in this series about a televangelist family. The Gemstones are a world-famous church empire that has a rich history of deviance and corruption.

In season two, the Gemstones face threats from both the past and present. Eli reconnects with a figure from his criminal past, while a journalist tries to expose the Gemstones' abuse scandal.

In episode 3, the Gemstone kids set their grievances aside to try to solve their father's murder. They uncover circumstantial evidence that leads them to suspect Eli's involvement, including blood on his pants and unanswered calls from his Memphis buddy Junior.

Episode 4

Episode 4 of righteous gemstones takes place a year after the Gemstone family's biggest crime. Eli Gemstone (Timothy McBride) has never been a particularly good father, but after the return of his son Junior, it seems as though he's re-emerged with a new, vengeful streak that has his children openly enraged and contemptuous.

In the season premiere, we were introduced to Eli as a loving, gentle man who longs for his wife Aimee-Leigh but is prone to fatherly aggravation (dad-grivation?) because of the sins his children commit.

Now, we learn that he was once an enforcer for low-level criminals. This may sound bad, but it’s a reminder that Eli is still very much in touch with his past and the darker side of his faith. As he puts Kelvin through the wringer, it appears that he’s finally reached his limit.

Episode 5

Eli and Aimee-Leigh’s religious empire is built on good intentions, but that doesn’t mean it’s always clean. The Gemstones often have to make hard calls.

Episode 5 brings them back to their early days, before Aimee-Leigh became pregnant and the family’s success grew beyond reason. It’s a surprisingly emotional episode, but it also offers insight into why the Gemstones have lost their way.

John Goodman is terrific in his role as the series’ brash, but wise, Pastor Eli. He gives the character more nuanced weight than one would expect from Danny McBride’s obscenely over-the-top show.

Episode 6

Amid multiple sex scandals roiling the megachurch world, Texan televangelist Lyle and Lindy Lissons contact the Gemstone family to partner on a new Christian resort. But their initial investment buy-in is too much for the Gemstones to afford.

Jesse's attempts to resolve the situation come to a halt when he finds himself in a wrestling arena with Junior, a professional wrestler who claims to have "never had a real job." As he watches a group of second chance men swing a replica sling designed to imitate the Biblical David slaying Goliath, he becomes convinced that he is in fact slain by these guys.

As the Gemstone siblings attempt to confront their blackmailers, they accidentally strike one of them. The blackmailers drive away in a van, but Kelvin and Keefe track them down. Scotty and Lucy are also wounded in the confrontation, causing them to flee to a motel.

Episode 7

In this episode, Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) is preparing to expand the family's ministry. Meanwhile, Jesse (Danny McBride) receives a video from blackmailers seeking to sully his reputation.

Then, Aimee-Leigh's elderly brother Baby Billy (Walton Goggins) arrives at the Gemstone Salvation Center and reconnects with a figure from his past. But when Tiffany (Valyn Hall) confronts Baby Billy about his coconut-flavored elixir, Baby Billy peels off through an empty parking lot with a personalized car trailer full of jugs of elixir in tow!

Jesse closes ranks on his co-conspirators to root out the identity of the blackmailers. A short time later, Scotty - one of the robbers - joins Jesse and the rest of his crew for dinner, only to stab him in the back. As the siblings try to track down the perpetrators, Kelvin (Adam DeVine) rescues Keefe from his Satanic former friends.

Episode 8

In this episode, the Gemstone family faces some tough lessons. Patriarch Eli (John Goodman) confronts Junior's involvement in Glendon's death and Baby Billy Freeman (Walton Goggins) receives visions of his late sister Aimee-Leigh.

The kids face some public scrutiny for their proximity to Thaniel's cabin. Martin tries to keep the situation quiet, but the children find circumstantial evidence that connects them to Thaniel's death.

Meanwhile, Jesse is faced with a video tape from blackmailers seeking to sully his reputation. He closes ranks on his co-conspirators to root out the identity of the blackmailers. Keefe Chambers (Tony Cavalero) and Kelvin (Adam Devine) work together to track the culprits.

Episode 9

Wealthy televangelist Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) runs his successful church with his immature children, Jesse (Danny McBride), Judy (Edi Patterson) and Kelvin (Adam DeVine). But their opulent lives funded by church donations are threatened when two masked blackmailers threaten to release a video of them engaging in lewd behavior.

Determined to protect his reputation, Jesse engages Judy and Kelvin in a plan to avoid paying the blackmailers. The plan fails when they accidentally strike one of the masked men. But they soon realize that the man they struck is the same man who killed Scotty, and Baby Billy, Aimee-Leigh’s brother.
