You Won't Be Alone (Focus Features, April 1)

You won't be alone is a ravishing, wildly original first feature from writer-director Goran Stolevski. It moves so hypnotically between dream and nightmare, horror and fairy tale that, once bound by its spell, you won't want to be freed.

Set in the 19th century in historical Macedonia, this arthouse horror drama follows a witch who takes over the body of an innocent young girl and then another. The film explores gender roles, sex, and the relationship between them.

1. Listen to the music

Music has many positive effects on your health and wellbeing. It can help relieve stress by regulating your mood and reducing anxiety. It can also improve sleep quality, and even stimulate your brain power. It can also be a good source of motivation, as it can increase self-esteem and reduce depression.

There are several ways you can listen to your favorite tunes - from streaming services to music players to podcasts and more. You can also download music to your smartphone or tablet, and listen to it on the go. For example, you can use your Apple iPhone's AirPlay feature to play your favorite tunes through headphones and your tablet at the same time. The best way to get started is by deciding which app you want to play the music in, and figuring out how to sync your device with that app. This may take some trial and error, but the end result is well worth it.

2. Watch the trailer

Trailers are a great way to introduce viewers to your product or story before they get to see it in full. They can also help to boost sales and sign-ups for mailing lists.

A trailer is a short, animated video that teases a movie, product or digital service. It typically features a voice-over and/or on-screen graphics. The trailer can be as long or as short as the filmmaker chooses, and it should be designed to appeal to the audience.

To create an effective trailer, the first step is to decide what kind of story you want to tell. Then, you need to develop the main character, plot and setting. It's important to make your characters feel real and relatable. Then, you need to build the tension and excitement of the film. Finally, you need to end the trailer on a cliffhanger.

The best movie trailers will set up the main conflict, introduce the characters and then leave it unresolved, allowing the audience to empathize with them. If you do this, the trailer will leave them wanting more.

If you're creating a trailer for a documentary, the approach is similar. However, you may need to focus more on the topic rather than the characters.

It's also important to keep the tone and style of the trailer consistent with the full film. For example, a comedy might use a slapstick approach while a horror might elicit a feeling of dread.

In addition to a great story and a strong script, a good trailer will include music and audio. This will not only add to the drama of the story, but will also enhance the cinematic experience. It can be as simple as a synthesized beat or a powerful orchestral score. It can also be as complex as incorporating special effects and cutting between different shots.

3. Watch the movie

You won't be alone, the debut feature from director Goran Stolevski, is a horror-drama film about a young girl who gets kidnapped and turned into a witch. It is set in 19th century Macedonia.

It centers around Nevena (Sara Klimoska), a girl who is marked as a baby by her mother to be handed over to a witch. She grows up to be a twisted creature and lives a life of brutality. She eventually gets captured and turned into a witch, where she lives in the bodies of others, killing them and taking their form.

As a result, she learns about humanity through her experiences as other people's bodies. She also learns to live and love through the experience of others, allowing her to understand how she can help her village.

When you watch a scary movie by yourself, it can be hard to stay in the mood, especially if the movie is not your favorite. Watching the movie with friends or family will help make it easier to stay in the mood and avoid becoming frightened.

For kids, talking about what they watched can help them to become more aware of what's happening onscreen and what it means for their bodies. They can discuss the different types of violence and gore that is shown and how it can affect their development. They can also talk about the themes of identity that are raised in the movie, including gender roles and sexual intercourse.

You can also watch a movie with your spouse or best friend to rekindle your relationship. This is especially helpful if you're feeling disconnected or are having issues with your partner.

You won't be alone is a horror-drama film that is a great choice for couples to watch together. It is full of emotional and thought-provoking scenes that will have you thinking about what it means to be a person. It is a story of transformation and transcendence that will take you on an emotional journey of self-discovery. It is a must-watch for fans of horror and drama movies!

4. Read the review

Some movies you love from the first minute of the first reel; others take a little longer to sink in. Goran Stolevski’s mesmerizing directorial debut, You Won't Be Alone (Focus Features, April 1), straddles this line, as it moves hypnotically between horror and fairy tale to tell a story that will haunt you forever.

The prologue is a tense, harrowing introduction to You Won't Be Alone's world, which resembles a sprawling mountain landscape, its periphery dotted with shape-shifting sorceresses. At the center of the action is a witch called Old Maid Maria (Anamaria Marinca, who also co-wrote and starred in 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days), a terrifying figure who terrifies the local population with her sharp black claws and face reminiscent of Freddy Krueger's.

When the witch approaches the village, the villagers recite her name as a way to scare children and prevent them from becoming rogues, but the Old Maid's influence extends beyond superstition: She seeks out newborns for her blood. This gruesome pursuit is only exacerbated by a pregnant peasant (Nevena Rapace) who agrees to give her child to the Old Maid in exchange for safety and a better life, despite being terrified of the specter that will soon come after her.

As the film progresses, you will see how this fabled witch, who takes on the human form of Nevena when she is born, gradually assimilates into the lives of the villagers she encounters. From a doting sister to an abusive husband, the young witch will inhabit the bodies of all of these people, learning how to sex, labor, and experience life as a human.

Though the story of the Wolf-Eatress is a bit familiar, You Won't Be Alone is far more subtle than many modern witchcraft horror films. It eschews the jump-scares and ominous slow zooms of other occult horror flicks in favor of an understated approach that emphasizes atmosphere, wit, and character.

The ethereal score by Mark Bradshaw weaves a tapestry of horror and beauty, and the film's exploration of tradition and gender is a visceral reflection on what we cling to in life and how we survive the tumultuous events that shape our lives. Like a poem, You Won't Be Alone speaks to the truths that we live with daily.
